LG Electronics is launching a new 3D notebook next month.

LG Electronics said on Tuesday that its new LG A510 notebook is the world's first portable rig to offer a cinematic 3D experience at "near" Full HD quality. To deliver the immersive 3D experience, LG has incorporated Intel's Core i7 quad-core processor (840QM or 740QM), Nvidia's GeForce GT 425M graphics with 1 GB of dedicated DDR3 video memory, and a 15.6-inch Full HD 3D LED LCD display.

"As more and more people consume content and interact via portable screens, we think this is a natural next step for business travelers, college students and small office/home office owners," said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "And we put the entire package in a beautifully-designed chassis because we don’t think high-tech has to be a dull grey pizza box."

Although specific hardware specs weren't provided, the laptop will reportedly feature an HDMI 1.4 port, a fingerprint reader, and a Blu-ray optical drive. Since the market is seemingly void of any 3D content, LG has also pre-installed its TriDef 2D to 3D conversion software, upgrading all your favorite 2D shows and movies with just one click. There's also a pair of clip-on 3D lenses for consumers wearing glasses, and an additional full pair of polarized 3D specs.

As for other features, LG's A510 boasts SRS TruSurround HD "for the ultimate immersive audio experience for movies and games," LED lighting which borders around the touchpad and changes color according to the system status, LG's Smart Pack software suite and more.

LG said that the notebook will launch in Asia, South America, the Middle East and Africa starting in October 2010. Currently the North American release date is not available.

"Near" Full-HD resolution, what the hell is that supposed to mean? Why even advertise it like that if its not full HD? Plus in looks interlaced so that really means "Near" Half-HD resolution. Not exactly a selling point. Still, cool to see more 3D laptops.

I'm betting it is 1050P, but I'm not sure, I guess it's a case of "close but no cigar", couldn't find a press release!
