[REQ] Simple wired glasses controller for PC

G'day everyone,

I have a few pairs of these LCD shutter glasses
http://tinyurl.com/2667pcc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
as well as some old Sega glasses and want to use them with Peter Wimmer's excellent 3D player software to watch 3D movies on the PC.
I'd prefer them to be triggered via the VGA or DVI sync pulse, and work with either Field Sequential for interlaced resolutions (1920x1080i) with my old CRT projector, or work with pageflip for non-interlaced resolutions.

I keep reading that such a controller is 'easy' and referred to various circuits, but many are dead links, or are designed for much more complex things.

I can make PCBs and solder extremely well, but my electronics knowledge is quite limited ( I know what resistors and capacitors do, but that is about it)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd be happy to pay for an actual unit, or even to help pay to get a circuit drawn up or a PCB layout done.

I'd also be happy to assemble and test a few units for free if anyone else could use one.

Any help really appreciated, I just don't have the money to buy an off the shelf new 3D system, and would like to play with the gear I already have (CRT monitors and projectors)

Cheers!

Uhu ?!? Why don't you buy the 3D dongle from the same vendor ? It does only cost $9.00 !

I received the dongle, but there are no drivers for Windows 7 so I can't get it to work. Anyone have any experience with these?

You can test your glasses by using the eDimensional activator available here :
http://www.edimensionalfiles.com/solo11 ... ds/E-D.exe" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For gaming, there are 3 ways to use these glasses :

1) NVIDIA stereo driver up to version 162.50
Systems : 98/ME/2000/XP
Cards : NVIDIA graphics card up to the Geforce 7950
DirectX : 7, 8, 9
OpenGL : yes
pros : free as in beer
pros : good page flipping support
cons : driver won't be updated
cons : single core support (use nHancer for dual/quad core)

2) iZ3D driver
Systems : XP/Vista/7
Cards : any
DirectX : 8, 9, experimental 10
OpenGL : quad buffer supported cards only
pros : dual/quad core support
pros : regular updates
cons : costs $49.99 (free trial)
cons : bad page flipping support (loose sync when FPS < refresh rate)
cons : one paying license for each mode support

3) TriDef 3D driver
Systems : XP/Vista/7
Cards : any
DirectX : 9
OpenGL : quad buffer supported cards only
pros : supports a lower quality mode with minimal impact on performance (virtual 3-D)
pros : dual/quad core support
pros : regular updates
cons : costs $49.99 (free trial)
cons : bad page flipping support (loose sync when FPS < refresh rate)

Make your choice...
