So from this press release not only a 720p pico projector but also a new game controller that surrounds the game in a 360 degree environment. I wonder if this is the full human visual field of view laser based HMD. It also talks of HUD display and other amazing things.

Now imagine if we made our own DIY HMD using this 720p pico projector, it would be mind blowing
About time, Microvision introduces a 720p Pico projector!!!

Interesting. Looks like maybe we will see an HMD from them.Immersive Gaming
Microvision plans to demonstrate a unique handheld projection game controller that immerses a user in a 360 degree gaming environment.
Full-Color See-Through Wearable Display
Microvision plans to demonstrate a see-through eyewear display prototype system that combines its PicoP display engine with a thin, lightweight optical system delivering clear, bright projected images to the wearer’s eye.
I have thought about using one of their projectors in a DIY HMD, and I think it might work, but I'm not sure if I'm going to go through with it.

Re: About time, Microvision introduces a 720p Pico projector
actually upon further reading I found that this is not some 360 degree HMD, it's in fact some new hand held game controller. But incredible still. It's called the super gun, I don't know if that's the official name. But it's an assault rifle for PC gaming with accelerometers and a mounted pico projector. It looks awesome. If this later could be used with one of their wearable displays when they come out, then gaming is going to get a whole lot better.

Nice, but it is still more than 1 year away ...The company plans a commercial product version of a 720p HD PicoP display engine in the second half of 2011.

I still think it would be more immersive if they didn't mount the projector on the gun, but used the gun with a picoP HMD, I guess they would probably do this when their HMD is ready. But wow amazing still.

Cool video but I am not sure I would really like to game like that. I think an HMD would be much more practical.

Yeah, I don't know if it's practical to have dedicated, empty, windowless room for gaming... but sure would be fun
If anyone would like to rig up something like this, it turns out AAXA Technologies has already released their infinite focus laser projector: http://www.projectorcentral.com/aaxa_l1 ... review.htm
