Is anyone able to verify Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter? I bought the game in Epic Store yesterday (good discount). Installed, dropped the fix into bin64 folder but now it freezes on the white screen and that's it. Works fine in 2D.

The game is UE3 ... you simply should start 00_UE4-UniversalFix-2_Config.cmd to get a note ......

Engine Unreal Engine 3

May be you are lucky using this fix:

I am really tired of reading error messages that have nothing to do with the actual fix, you get me down .... I try to make it easy for you, but even that is apparently too difficult .... And in the end only a few people know to appreciate the work behind a 3D game .... HMPF ... HP-REVERB-G2 is incoming .......

Best way to find out is Google. Just type in the game name and add "game engine" often you will find out the Engine a game is running on quickly this way.

Yeah, it's not that I didn't know how to find out, it's just it didn't occur to me to consider the UE version :) Somehow I'm used to it with DX versions, but now my brain will say "hey, verify UE version" when I run into problems :)

cheers mate

The new update of this fix to 3.0 will whow you the UE4-Version in the config tool. If you can read there: "UE4-Version: not readable", THAN it could be NOT UE4. But its not 100% because some gamesalso do not have the version 4.XXXX inthe file tag ^^ BUT its a hint to use google to find out the engine :-)

Tremendous work Losti - what a fantastic tool! I've been playing around with The Pathless (awesome game, BTW) and it is amazing for this code-challenged individual to have this kind of power at my fingertips!

Yepp. Often seen für games that using UE4 later than 4.24.0.

You should avoid switching to Desktop. Not sure if this also happens with graphic driver 425.31. Its not an issue of the fix itselfe.

Make sure d3dx.ini is not opened in a program like an editor.
Just restart the tool until it is working, sometimes you need more than 1 or 2 attemps. Restart your PC also helps. If it will still occure, install the game in a folder not containing spaces or brackets.

It's strange but when I start 00_UE4-UniversalFix-2_Config.cmd in version 3.30 I get some kind of recursion (looks like endless loop of opening cmd windows - I even must restart PC to close cmd processes). Tested on Hellbound and Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition games. I have Win7 64x. Where can I get old versions to test - I have access denied message when try to enter Losty's folder on S3 :(

P.S. Problem solved - I run it in 32bit version of Total Commander - In 64bit version and Windows Explorer all fine

The Universal fix works great with Grounded - early access game. I am wondering how to preserve HUD depth settings, which seem to reset every time I restart the game?

Should be saved. Try to press F10 to restore.

Sorry, just to make sure I understood you correctly Losti, are you saying that typically the configurations should automatically be saved? Or that I need to save them somehow? I pressed F10 and nothing changed. It's not a terrible pain to cycle through the hud depths each time I load the game, but it would be nice if I didn't have to. Also, it appears that none of the settings are retained. Fortunately, however, the only other setting I messed with was turning lens flares on.

If you configure HUD and all the things except the OSD on or off will be saved with F10 or if you exit the game. In any other case you have a very old Version of the Universal fix???

Open the d3dx_user.ini in the Shaderfixes folder

Change the value $hud_depth = XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX here to the hud depth you want. 0.1 = 10% and 0.2 = 20 % and so on.
If you are using Auto Depth Hud
$lefthud_x_screendepth = 0.5
$righthud_x_screendepth = 0.5
$upperhud_y_screendepth = 0.5
$lowerhud_y_screendepth = 0.5

0.1 = 10 % of the middle to start for each value.

BUT: I just cannot imagine that the things are not saved for you, no wone reported this. I think somethin g if wrong with your system or copy, but give it a try to set up the things manually.

Losti, I don't have a d3dx_user.ini file in the ShaderFixes folder. That file exists one level up - in the Win64 directory itself. Is that the one you are referring to? Edit: I opened the file in the Win64 directory and found the default HUD depth was set to 20%. I changed it to .01% = 1 percent and saved. Let's see if it sticks this time....

Edit: Okay, that worked. For some reason it wouldn't save when adjusting it using the OSD Help Screen, but it saved the settings when editing the .ini directly. Thank you for your help Losti :ugeek:

Edit (again): All of the HUD depth is working perfectly at 1%, however the permanent crosshair is too shallow at this setting. Is there a way to adjust the crosshair depth separately?

Yes sorry the file is a Level up, my fault :-) Very Very strage thst it is not saved. Forthe crosshair depth use the Auto depth HUD function. How to Configure is written at the Blog post.
