Oculus events page updated

Post by cerulianbaloo »

Not sure how many of these are open to the public or industry/press only, but thought I'd share for anyone that may be able to attend any of them. These guys aren't slowing down, they're going full bore, lots of upcoming events they'll be at. Here's a few from their events page http://www.oculusvr.com/events/

Feb 12th, 2013
D: Dive Into Media
Laguna Niguel, CA
http://allthingsd.com/conferences/dive- ... dia/about/

CEO Brendan Iribe presents VR with industry leaders in media and technology.

Feb 15th - Feb 17th, 2013
IndieCade East 2013
New York, NY
http://www.indiecade.com/2013/east_info/

Come try the latest demos, and join us for coffee on Feb 16!

Mar 8th, 2013'
SXSW 2013
Austin, TX
http://schedule.sxsw.com/2013/events/event_OE02065

Palmer and Brendan participate in a VR panel with Paul Bettner – CEO of Verse HQ, Chris Roberts – creator of Wing Commander and Star Citizen, and Cliff Bleszinski – former design director at Epic Games.

Mar 18th - Mar 19th, 2013
IEEE VR 2013
Orlando, FL
http://ieeevr.org/2013/program/panels/consumer_vr

Palmer participates in a panel – “The Future of Consumer Virtual Reality”.

If time permits I'm considering trying to catch the SXSW one, it'd be great to see them and Chris Roberts discuss VR together. That and, you know, tons of music, parties, and Texas BBQ.

Edit: Heh, "Palmer Events Center" for the SXSW venue.

Looking forward to the SXSW panel, hope the Internet manages to hold on to it's near perfect record of speedily uploading every event of interest to youtube so I can watch :)

The SXSW gaming expo is free. I was also hoping to attend IEEE, but it costs about ~$900 to attend...

You should take your omnidirectional walking prototype with you! I'm actually half-serious, it would be great if you could demo it to people and gather feedback, etc. User testing always leads to unexpected insights that can greatly improve the product.

You should ask Oculus to join them at their booth. Maybe they can invite you or so. Should be beneficial for both of you...

but that (oculus + walker at the same) could bring some even more confusion to people..

If there is consumer release later this year...maybe some wizard or pop convention visits might be worthwhile to get the public excited before the first consumer release. I went to Wizard World Chicago con one year when they showed off Bio shock. Hundreds of people got a chance to check it out I believe it helped it out a lot when it was released.
