accupix mybud or sony hmzt1?

Post by ichigo52262 »

which hmd should I get? The accupix mybud or sony 3d viewer? Accupix mybud is 480p with hdmi support which is max hd and converts 2d to 3d with a field of view of 35 with a screen at 100'' and also it's completely portable, or the sony 3d viewer which mostly everyone knows the specs of that one, I'm new to hmd's and was wanting one for gaming on my 360, if anyone has a review of the accupix mybuds can you post them plese or message me?

The HMZ-T1 is much, much better. These two HMDs are not even on the same level.

It has a zoom mode, but that cuts off part of the image.

That does not really matter, though. A pillarboxed HMZ-T1 image is still larger and higher res than a fullscreen image in the other HMD.

I'm also worried that it will be to heavy to wear what I'm mainly gonna use it for is gaming.

You can mod it to be pretty comfortable, especially if you get the HMZ-T2.

Really, that MyBud is going to be a bad experience. If you have never used an HMD, I can almost guarantee that you will regret the purchase. It is LCOS based, too, so you are going to get a rainbow effect.

Look into the SiliconMicroDisplay ST1080, it might be another good option for you.

my only hmd I've ever had was myvu which is really crappy with fuzzy lines on the sides so i can't use it, and every time i try to order the st1080 they're still on a vip waiting list, i'll probably get the hmzt1 and just mod it

PalmerTech knows what he is talking about, i'd also go with the HMZ or ST1080. HMZ has a bigger FOV and seems better in most ways apart from comfort and resolution. ST1080 had some issues when it came out, I'm not sure if these have been resolved or not.

Personally, I'd get a HMZ and modify it to make it more comfortable (this type of mod will pretty much be a necessity). I dont like HMDs with a FOV of less than 45 degrees, they just are not immersive enough.

Sense everyone is telling me to get the hmzt1 then I'll get that, people say it hurts the forehead though, couldn't I wear a boxing headband or put a piece of fabric on my forehead while I'm lying down using it?

Depends on your face shape, skin type, headband model, pain tolerance, etc. Nobody has a clear answer that is right for you, so you will have to try yourself.

I doubt a boxing headband will be sufficient, from what people say, you need some more serious mods to take the weight off the forehead (overhead straps, etc).

$50 isn't much compared to the $1200 it costs for the HMZ here... but if you look at the HMZ mod thread on this forum, you can see lots of DIY mods that are way cheaper. I think one of the more promising ones involved wide velcro straps that went over the head.

Probably as good or better than it would look on a 720P HDTV. Of course it is going to look best with Blu-Ray, but DVDs are still watchable.

It depends on the format of the movie. If its a widescreen 16:9 release, it will fill the whole screen.

Some movies could be letterboxed or pillarboxed depending on the format.
