Any issue running 3D Vision ready native 1024x768 projector?

Post by Nicola87 »

Is there any problem running 3D Vision ready native 4:3 1024x768 projectors?

I heard that there are some issues with native 1280x800 resolution, and you can get it to work only if you set up the projector as 1280x720 (no hacks).
I was wondering if there is this problem also with 1024x768...?

If the projector is on Nvidia's supported list you should be fine.

What is the cause of the 1280x800 120Hz issue? Can you give me something to read about that?

thanks

Yeah, there was a problem with 720P mode (1280x720) not looking correct on projectors with 1280x800 resolution. But I don't think this effects 4:3 mode on SD projectors.

As far as i know the problem is still there, meaning that if you have a native 1280x800 you need to push a 1280x720 120Hz signal in input from the computer, otherwise it won't work (unless you make some "hacking" )

I'm not sure where you are going with this, you seem to be asking different things.

Is there maybe a specific projector that you are looking at buying and want some feedback on?

I'm just trying to figure out which native resolutions you can run with 3D Vision without messing up things (talking about projectors of course)

The problem with 1280x800@120Hz was that people are getting a red overlay warning message across the screen stating that the resolution is not supported even though you can play the game perfectly. The only option is do a lil registry tweak to remove it.

You can use 3DTV Play for 1920x1080@24 per eye via a HDMI 1.4 capable setup, it works great for mostly single player games. You'll most likely want 720@60 per eye (120Hz) for any multiplayer games.

As far as 1024x768@120Hz, it is a supported resolution. The thing is that in order for the projector to work with 3D Vision it must be on Nvidias supported list or you'll need to use an EDID override to trick the GPU into thinking the PJ is supported.

Thanks!

I thought that 1280x800@120Hz was not supported at all...

Does the warning appears also in non gaming mode at 1280x800@120Hz? (Google earth, films etc...)

The message appears on everything, whenever 3Dvision is active, but there are several ways around it, I use this:
