Multi-display splitter for making 2x720p 120Hz from 1 output

Is anyone aware of multi-display splitter that supports 120Hz at 2560x1440 to be split into 2 separate display devices? So that one could drive 2 x 720p projectors from 1 graphics card DP output. We are coining around different ways how to configure our VR projection system and encountering this product gave some new ideas: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/produ ... igital_se/

So the setup would be to use for example 4 x 720p projectors so that each output from Quadro renders 2560x1440 that is then split to the 720p then for example composing powerwall so that 2 projectors are overlapped to form the front screen. Theoretically ending in situation with 1 PC that has 2 quadro cards. We want to avoid clustering hence for example having 2 x quadro graphics cards rendering at max resolution to 8 x 720p stereo projectors. I dont mind about the rendering power needed graphics card side for the time being. Main relevance is the configuration and validity of this kind of setup given that we can render the content. (feasible or not depends on the content greatly).

Now apparently there is no splitter that could do this for 120Hz signal? Any ideas how to approach it?

This kind of setup, given there is splitter, would greatly allow to squeeze the pixel size with quite low $$ as ther isnt really good solutions even in the 1080p short throw projectors for 120Hz active stereo. Physical setup woudl have challenges and so on. But the advantages currently outweight the disadvantages for our specific case.

Edit: Im currently digging into the DisplayPort 1.2 specifications to see if that actually answers the question... its a bit vague how they altered the DP with the daisy-chaining in 1.2

Edit2: "Multi-Stream Transport. DisplayPort 1.2 adds the capability to address and drive several display devices through one DisplayPort connector. This feature has often been referred to as daisy-chaining or addressable displays. Each of the displays in the daisy-chain configuration, with the exception of the last display in the chain, must have DisplayPort 1.2 receiver(s) and transmitter(s) in order to receive and send the video stream that is addressed to itself and the others down the chain. Once the monitor extracts the video and audio stream addressed to it, it will then transmit the rest of the video and audio streams down the chain. Each daisy-chainable monitor must have knowledge of the entire chain."

Currently available hub seems to only support 60Hz... http://accellcables.com/products/Displa ... nitor.html for the non-1.2 compliant devices.
DisplayPort Ver.1.2 provides for:
• Link bandwidth sufficient for 1080p 120Hz per EYE
• Additional 3D Stereo transport format indicated by a new VSC (Video Stream Configuration) SDP
• Stacked top bottom
• Stacked left right
• Line interleave
• Pixel interleave
• DisplayID Standard as an extension block of EDID Ver.1.4 being extended for better description of 3D rendering capability of a display
But not explicitly stating that the daisy-chain configuration is OK with this. based on the explanations it should be OK. :roll:

This is in any case good news for the VR / even for the HMD development that 1 DP cable is enough.
