Registration's spambot protection

Post by Aeroxia »

"This question is a means of preventing automated form submissions by spambots."

I had a word that I couldn't figure out, so the ironic thing is I got it by finding a word unscrambler online. Is this really effective? :D

It's the most effect method we have used so far.

Everything else has just been an open door.

I think the method is sound but the phrase choices are overly difficult (for example, the word "stereoscopic"). Sure it weeds out spammers, but also real users. I have had a few people message me through other channels (ie YouTube) telling me they couldn't get past the spam protection and wanted to join the site. Just saying.

A few months ago, I added a line "Please email customerservice@mtbs3d.com if you can't unscramble the sentence". So if people are having trouble, they can get instant help. We've received a few emails since then.

Regards,
Neil
