Woohoo!!! I just got anaglyph test screen working in Vista 64bit (at last!!!!)
Now where did I put all those games....
For anybody thats interested here is the recipie..
1, download and install the Zalman stereo driver (but not the 32 bit nvidia driver that comes with it) off the zalman site
2, download the 174.53 64bit driver off the Nvidia site.
3, the 174.53 driver is only for very new graphics cards and wasn't compatable with my old 6200 card so I got the nv_disp.inf file from my 169.25 driver and mashed it together with the 174.53 nv_disp.inf file until it would install.
4, cross lots of fingers!!!
5, big thank you to Nvidia for making life so very difficult.
(Maybe mash an old stereo driver with the Zalman one, goggles and dual screen options will work too??? Wishful thinking...)

It is a beta driver, maybe it has too many bugs to release it officially.
I will have a look at it.
EDIT: Rick is right! It works! Tested with 174.70 x64 drivers and RC1 stereodriver.
For support of googles: it is not possible to get the old XP32 stereocontrolpanel to work in Vista. Tried in in different ways the last days.
The only hope is that nvidia opens the new driver for googles or someone find out how to hack the driver.
