Autostereo has double images?!??

Post by Jadentheman »

I saw engadget's in depth review of the nintendo 3ds and the video screen of the 3DS had double images but how is that possible I though autostereopic was different or is it two views. I don't get it

The screen looks like double images if you are outside the viewing angle (which is small). If you are playing it yourself it looks clear. Its still based on sending 2 images at once, one to each eye. It just uses technology on the screen (parallax barrier) rather than the user wearing glasses. The stereoscopic principle is the same.

I have a possible explanation. A camera has a larger lens than the human eye, so it accepts light from a larger angle. If a camera lens were as large as the space between eyes, it would see both images fully. With a smaller diameter, it would happen to a lesser extent.

plus they shot it with a 2d camera so yeah it'll double in 2d images and/or if the camera isn't positioned properly
