It seems like Killzone 3 has been unofficially announced and the latest issue of Gamepro which was acquired by gamespot.com user has a ton of details regarding the game.

Killzone 3 details revealed in the mag:
- Will show the Helghast have humanity left in them.
- Will have the feeling that "of being in a place far away from home, outnumbered by people who want to kill you."
- Will be like Inglorious Basterds.
- All of the characters in the screenshots are flying in.. jetpacks?!
- Will include arctic levels.
- One mission in the game involves rescuing ISA Captain Narville.
- Game is playable in 3D!
- Have to wear 3D glasses, apparently the 3D effects are "crazy."
- Combat is "unchanged from predecessor."
- Or is it? Hand to hand combat involves you "Unloading a string of different (and often brutal) attacks on stunned enemies."
- The scale is supposed to be "bigger this time."
- The Jetpacks are "surprisingly lightweight and agile, Killzone 3's jetpack is easier to maneuver compared to the sluggish incarnations of the gadget found in other games."
- New weapon called the Wasp, basically shoots a "flurry of rockets" at an enemy.
- Will show off the Helgjast culture.
- There is actually a Helghast language, which will be explored in the game.
- Will have "diverse locales."
- Have to sit in the center of the 3D tv for the 3D effects to work.
- 3D in this game is called a "Game Changer."
- Going to have "Intense Action"
- Jetpacks double as a weapon, which basically means a machine gun mounted right on top of it.
- If you shoot Helghast with jetpacks, they'll "explode like roman candles"
- To control the jetpack, you "have to activate bursts of speed in midair, propelling yourself across further distances."

Interesting that this game will natively support 3D on the PS3 since its such a high profile title.

Anyone know what 3D tech the PS3 supports? I'd assume its similar to what Zalman use because of the 'having to sit in the centre' comment?

PS3 will support hdmi1.4 frame packing format at 1080p24Hz for BluRay3D and 720p50/60Hz for games although due to the computing power, most games will only run at 30fps.
It is very unlikely that sony will support other 3D formats. So for any other 3D display it's all up the the game developers to manually implement these displays themselves.

Great news. That is a very high profile game to get the 3D treatment. Not sure about the sitting in the center comment as the Sony 3D HDTVs use shutter glasses and should work off-axis.

Sounds good... but it is console... I hate consoles (as long as I can't emulate them)

I think they are using so so many computation tricks that it will be hardly similar to other 3d games. Ps3 hardware is way too old now. Expect sub sub hd scaled up, for example 800*500 resolution, and post processing thrown out as a whole.

Interestingly enough, some folks have recently had some hands on time with Killzone 3, playing it in S3D, and they claimed that there wasn't a "noticable" difference in game performance between playing the game with S3D turned on or not. I wonder how they are achieving this?

I'd guess its because certain taxing effects such as AA, AF, Motion Blur and Depth of field do not necessarily need to be rendered in 3D because they come 'free' to a certain extent when a moving 3D image is seen.

Hopefully they can resort to analytical anti aliasing done by CELL. AA is a must at 720p...
