passive stereo problem
Hi,
I have some problems with my passive stereo projection. I think here are many users with great experience in this sector, so I hope you can help me.
I want to test some software like quest3d (http://www.quest3d.com), more3d (http://www.more3d.de), vred (http://www.vred.org), bs contact stereo (http://www.bitmanagement.de/index.en.html... and so on. My problem is the 3d visualization with this software. Games with the NVIDIA stereo driver is no problem and run with my system, but the other software didn?t. I try to contact the support of several firms, the few that answered said I should run my view under horizontal span mode and then choose split right/left (menu option of the software), but it didn?t worked. I tried several settings, but without any success.
Maybe one of you know some of this software or a similar one and can give me important hint?
My system is an Intel Xeon dual Core 3,2 GHz, NVIDIA Quadro FX 500/600, 2GB Ram, Win XP SP2; For the Display I have two F1+ projectors (http://www.projectiondesign.com/Default.asp?CatID=1531) and a silver screen.
As I said, the games run in 3D, so the hardware is enough - I think!
I hope you guys can help me and I look forward to hearing from someone soon.
best regards
fr?nky

well thanks for this answer, but they can?t sell their product when they said you need:
PC with a fast Intel or AMD processor (the faster the better!)
NVIDIA based graphics card (GeForceFX or better) with dual output
Windows XP or Windows 2000 operating system.......
somehow it has to work with nvidia and horizontal span or clone mode....... and someday I get mad, because I didn?t managed it

I don't know the applications, butfr?nky wrote:Hi,

it seems, like the application itself is supposed to show the 3D - so no need for Nvidia-Drivers, right?
Maybe you should try to disable the stereo driver, while trying to get 3D with span mode.
Maybe it would also be helpfull, if you described the effect which happens, when you choose the settings as it is described.the few that answered said I should run my view under horizontal span mode and then choose split right/left (menu option of the software), but it didn?t worked.
In the german part of the FAQ (of more3D.de) they say, their driver "words" with the newest Nvidia cards (series8???). They also claim to enable normal programs to run in windowed mode, or did I get that wrong?

tomorrow I load some pictures, I know it?s hard to understand when you don?t know these programms. also I have some ideas to test, but first I can test it tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks a lot for your answers, that is a great help to me. So please go ahead and tell me your ideas

I decided to look at a website you mentioned above. I think the more3d.de site has to do most with S-3D. It's a german company with a german part of their page. The german part is slightly different from the english one.
http://www.more3d.de/german/faq_d.htm
http://www.more3d.de/english/faq_e.htm
you might want to compare them. If you look at the answer to this qestion:
From that I conclude, that more 3D is a company, which proviedes second party 3D drivers - for very expencive licenses.
If you have the demo version of their software it shouldn't be a problem to run your systhem in S-3D - if the things they proclaim are right
Good Luck with your testing

ok I have some pictures from several software. so you can better see my problem
here is quest3d. it?s a special example template for stereo viewing. the text should be nearly congruent:
so before I reinstall my drivers, now I have forceware 162.50. then with bs contact stereo it look like this:
pretty good, but the 3d depth is missing. so no real 3d feeling with that. the days befor I the pictures where totaly displaced... so I don?t know why it worked now!?
today I?m goining to test some other software, I also want to test some stereo film with the stereoscopic player.

regarding the stereo problem:
1st) you can upload your pictures in the mtbs photo gallery. that allows us to see it in different sizes and to be shure that the hosting company is not going to delete it. there is a special section called "image hosting for forum"
2nd) personally i think that nobody here can help you on that because it is not a common problem. try to email the link to this thread to the company wich developes the software, maybe all toghether we find a solution.
regarding dragon s hook:
i never used it, so i preffer not to answer, but there is oone thing i can guarantee: you can ask and post all your problems without feeling bad.. we're here to help..

-yes I know, it?s a very special case, but I thought maybe someone can give me a hint or something like that. The first what I did, was to contact the developer. But when from six different developers only two answer... you have to look after alternitives an here I thougt is the best place to get help.2nd) personally i think that nobody here can help you on that because it is not a common problem. try to email the link to this thread to the company wich developes the software, maybe all toghether we find a solution.
to the dragon tool, I tryed NFS Most Wanted, but didn?t get an real 3D effect. So I tryed the dragon tool and it worked perfectly. Therefore I asked myself: what?s the deal with that tool??

Ok. dragons tools. I thought you meant the kinddragons hook (stereodriver). Dragonstools enables some (limited) postprocessing ability in the nvidia driver so you can increase the compability with games and 3d. It changes a registrysetting for that game in the nvidia folder in the registry. Don't remember wich one though. The tool also have some other functions but i'm sure you noticed them.
"stereotexture enable" value maybe?
cheers

well my problem is solved! the graphic board was the problem. I thougt if a games run in 3d and the nvidia test application, the graphic board must be working..... in the last days I spent a lot of time in begging so I could test the same things with a nvidia quadro fx 4500. and now everything is working perfect.
a few developer said to me: "the graphic board is not the problem, go ahead" ... and I was in doubt of my skills, but now everything is history
thanks all for reading and writting. finally I can make my test
