ghosting allover

Post by Hugo »

I´ve got my iz3d right now .

In 3d-mode there is ghosting all over.
(tested all positions to the screen)

Have i missed something or is it so bad, as it seems?

What games have you tested it with? Does it ghost badly in light or dark scenes?

Maybe the new glasses will help?

Is the light on the front of the monitor blinking or solid?

Are you in dual screen mode (or spanned mode on ATI cards)?

How does the static image look in the iZ3D driver?

The light on the front is in solid blue.
I use nv in dual screen mode.
I´ve some ghosting within the static test,
but it´s ok.

The problem is in light & dark scenes. It seems
to depend more on the color as on the brightness.

Some tested games: Live For Speed / Half-Life / Fallout 3/ Farcry 2...

Fallout 3 doesn't surprise me. That has anomalies all over the place which could be mistaken for ghosting.

Can you share some screenshots? (PRNTSCRN)

You can try tilting your monitor back a bit, that often helps. The experimental glasses make a world of difference though - you will see.

Slightly off-topic, but could you clarify what you mean Neil? Fallout 3 is one of the best suited games for Red/Cyan viewing and i've never had the slightest issue with it, I'm slightly surprised to hear that it doesn't work very well with the iz3D monitor.

As for this topic, iz3D will shortly be offering 2 Free Pair's of the new glasses to every owner and if you contact them its possible they will send you a pair asap.

For Fallout 3:

1. Go for a combined depth and pop-out experience (see sample video here: http://www.mtbs3d.com/cgi-bin/newslette ... ews_id=44/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
2. As an example, look at the fluorescent lights in buildings. Notice how the light disconnects from the light fixture?
3. Look at your PIP (TAB key) and targeting system (V key). Crazy separation and disproportionate S-3D results.

1. I allready do.
2. You've got me there.
3. No it doesn't, the PIP-Boy Looks fantastic; the way it comes out of the screen, and Vats works fine in S3D.

I use the nVidia Driver BTW. I'll test the iz3D driver with Fallout 3 in the morning and post back. (I'm not happy to hear about this at all, considering I'm about to be forced to use and pay for the iz3D Driver to play my games in S3D! At least if I want Full-Color S3D, i'm sick of Red/Cyan)

The NVIDIA version has a better VATS, but the PIP boy is still bad.

Try this. Choose an object like a table or a shelf. Try to make it pop out of the screen like in the demo video above. NOW look at the PIP boy. If yours is like mine, the separation will be much too high on the PIP, but the VATS will look good.

Uploaded a lfs-shot. The right eye is close to be ok, but the left has nice problems:
Lights under bridge, whole right side of the screen 40% or so...

Edit. ahh - "extension jps is not allowed" - so i can´t add the screen...

His convergence is correct. If he matched the buildings, he would get no depth.

However, I do recommend reducing your separation by half. Looking with your naked eye, make it so the insides of the buildings are touching each other.

Also, view with both eyes open.

Can you try testing Call of Duty 4 and tell me if you still see "ghosting"?

Tried it with about half separation - your´re right, it was too high.
But no changes in ghosting...

I´ll test Call of Duty 4, but just on next week, because i´ve a better
download speed @ work for this 1,37 GB demo.

thx for help

Tested the demo now. There is not much ghosting, it would be very playable, but it seems, that my
old 7950 GT is way to slow for this title @ 1680x1050 .

Yeah, thats what I figured. Many users have said that COD4 performs great with the iz3d. At least you know that the monitor is not broken. This also means the new iz3d glasses (and driver tweaks) will probably help a great deal. While you wait for the new glasses to come out maybe you should think about upgrading that GPU. The 7950 is not really going to be much use with any new games coming out.

I've been playing C0D modern warfare using the iz3d and it's amazing! since I use nvidia 8600gts I don't iz3d's full resolution but that doesn't matter- it's very cool.

Wait, COD4 is playable on iz3D!!! :shutter :D :shutter - Time for me to play it again then. I'm finding I have to play all my fav games again now I have working decent Stereo 3D :)

nVidia's 3D drivers go extreamly slow with that engine once the action gets going.

I´ve to add a positive thing as well. The 2D-Mode is perfect!
Just as any other good LCD-Screen.

Edit/Update:
Got the new glasses now (the gift from iZ3D). For me, the ghosting
is reduced to a playable level and the colors got a huge improvement
as well. :D
