Arrrgghh! It's the hydra!
I came here to chew bubblegum and to see 3D...and I'm all out of bubblegum!

what? no interlaced ?? :crying:
they are really nice, I specially love the "extra pop-up effect" at the top of this 1

Do you think we should include interlaced as an option? I hadn't considered that.

Re: my cool 3d vids!!!
I don't know, it's always better than anaglyph for those who don't use the IZ3D drivers and don't want to download the vidéo but I guess it depend on how many viewers would use it
ps: posting interlaced vidéos via youtube is a bit treacky because you have to change the size of the player's window, maybe if someone find a way to adjust it with a soft or something that will be easyer
pps: but if you start a poll about it I'll vote "yes"

added a poll- adding interlaced would not pose a technical challenge however would take up more time for me to do since I'd have to convert and upload a single video 3 timesanotherFrench wrote:I don't know, it's always better than anaglyph for those who don't use the IZ3D drivers and don't want to download the vidéo but I guess it depend on how many viewers would use it

Re: my cool 3d vids!!!
with the new option in the IZ3D drivers, more people will post videos online so that will be a problem for those like me who use interlaced screen with n'vidia drivers, we'll have to see it in anaglyph or download each vidéo so I vote "yes" but as an option for the mtbs forum, not an obligation so those who have interlaced vidéos can post them tooyuriythebest wrote: added a poll- adding interlaced would not pose a technical challenge however would take up more time for me to do since I'd have to convert and upload a single video 3 times
I think he meant on the site, not especially in this topicyuriythebest wrote:Do you think we should include interlaced as an option? I hadn't considered that.

Re: my cool 3d vids!!!
The video shouldn't be interlaced but if iz3d could make it also work with other outputs it would be really nice.
Interlcing is like the worst possible way of storing a 3D image because there is like 99% chance something in the process will go wrong, especially with youtube re-encoding.
Side-by-side is probably the best option, although i don't know if crosseyed or parallel would be better.
Crosseyed makes it identical to jps, but skysatellite and eutelsat technical demonstrations on hyundai screens use parallel squashed.

Re: my cool 3d vids!!!
the only test we did was with my vidéos, the results are bad but I found out that my camera rig is totally wrong as I try to explain a little here:BlackShark wrote:The video shouldn't be interlaced but if iz3d could make it also work with other outputs it would be really nice.

so I do not think youtube compression is in cause, I think the bad results are due to my vids that are wrong from the start.
also I think that buying the IZ3D drivers for those who can use those from nvidia for free doesn't look very atractive, especially if there is a way to make it work this way.

Re: my cool 3d vids!!!
My remarks about interlacing not being suitable were not specifically baout your example but general.
Just see how many people complain about not being able to watch HQFS films just because some decoder on their computer is trying to deinterlace the footage.
Modern compression softwares are now much better at compressing progressive images. Even those which know what interlacing is require more data to store the interlaced image. Then there's the risk (99.9%) that the user or conversion software won't treat the interlacing correctly and that will either ruin the quality or require tremendously high bitrates to keep the interlacing intact in a progressive encoding.
Using interlaced youtube for displaying on our Zalman monitors is a nice trick, but we're basically using a technical coincidence that only works under very specific conditions. (you can't scale, you can't fullscreen, and you're not even sure the images aren't crossed)
This iZ3D feature allows us to do it (almost) right.
The display software knows what a stereo video is and knows where to find the left and right images, and how to display them (at least for iZ3D monitors at the moment).
It uses a progressive recording/storing image format to keep the quality to a maximum, no matter what the users and automated software do.
It's not perfect since it's dependant on DirectX, but it's the best we can do without having to modify the actual flash player. (which we can't do)

Re: my cool 3d vids!!!
but IZ3D drivers are not free and we are not talking about choosing between the 2 options, it's about adding one more possibility for viewing vidéos online.
I know IZ3D works much beter but isn't it beter to give the viewer a choice between 2 solutions ?
shall we stop posting anaglyph videos too just because the IZ3D drivers work better or give beter results?
I can't show it publicly because it's not my own video but you can see it in my article on http://stereo3d.free.fr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
just login to "espace privé\ Articles proposés\ sans titre" (for blackshark only, you have to be admin to login there)
and about the images being crossed, I explained how to uncross them in the topic where I posted them, all you have to do is scroll up or down a little (move the slide bar on the right side of your internet browser) and if you can't find what are left and right views please, read those explanation (in french):
http://forum.hardware.fr/hfr/Hardware/2 ... m#t6934429" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I just tryed another vidéo (better than mine) and it works perfectly so once again, youtube compression can handle those interlaced vidéo very well.BlackShark wrote:My remarks about interlacing not being suitable were not specifically baout your example but general.

no I did not find a way to scale those vidéo but I'm just a newbee and don't know anything about that kind of stuff, maybe someone who knows it better will find a wayBlackShark wrote: Using interlaced youtube for displaying on our Zalman monitors is a nice trick, but we're basically using a technical coincidence that only works under very specific conditions.
