The "FIX Dual Core Problem" Thread

Post by RAGEdemon »

Hello everyone,

I have been sitting idly by for a while now as one stereogamer after another hits the stereo3d "Dual Core wall of death" . I had hoped that nvidia would fix the problem in later releases, but it has become apparent that this is not going to happen anytime soon.

We must once again rely solely upon our community for salvation.

So then, my friends, here I aim to bring all the dual core information together and find out exactly what the "common denominator" for the dual core problem is, and hopefully at the same time, bring some more attention to this forum as the only place to get the fix.

I must be lucky. I am running a heavily overclocked Dual Core system without any problems what so ever. No lockups, no BSOD, no corruption - no nothing. Just beautiful stereo, as it was with my old single core.

Starting off then,
Can I Please ask that you post your system specs in this format: (Copy/Paste)

WORKING: (Yes/No)
CPU:
RAM:
MOTHERBOARD + CHIPSET:
GRAPHICS:
SOUND:
OS:
SPECIAL TWEAKS:
(AMD Dual Core fix, AMD Dual Core optimizer, WinXP Fix, Updated Drivers)

eg My system:

WORKING: YES
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
RAM: 2GB Corsair XMS2 6400C4 800MHz
MOTHERBOARD + CHIPSET: ASUS P5W-DH (Intel 975 Chipset)
GRAPHICS: Tested with 7600GT 93.71 and others - no problems.
Tested ED ATi driver with MSI 8800GTX, No problems relating to dual core
SOUND: X-FI Music
OS: Windows XP PRO
SPECIAL TWEAKS: WinXP Dual Core fix, Latest drivers for all components.
From BIOS:
Enhanced C1 Control = Disabled
CPU Internal Thermal Control = Disabled
Virtualization Technology = Enabled

Please make sure you have the WinXP Dual Core fix installed if you areon WinXP:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=60416

Please also make sure you have tried the two AMD dual core fixes.

It would also be very helpful if you can tell us what you have tried thus far.

I understand that this thread is ambitious and will rely heavily on user Data contribution. I believe that with enough data, we can and will narrow the problem down to one single perpetrator - The problem isn't black magic. All input is welcome. The more data we have, the better.

I thank you for any and all input.

Thank You and Kind Regards,

Great post! I'd love to get to the bottom of this as well.

WORKING: YES
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
RAM: 1GB Corsair (I think 667)
Intel 965 motherboard
GRAPHICS: Tested with BFG 7600GT 93.71

SOUND: Audigy 2ZS
OS: Windows XP SP2
SPECIAL TWEAKS: WinXP Dual Core fix (I wonder if I truly applied this patch correctly??? But I think I did), NUMPROC = 1 in boot.ini

I had stereo crashing 1/2 the time I enabled stereo.

Changing only the NUMPROC to 1 in boot.ini made all my crashes go away.

WORKING: Yes
CPU: Core 2 Duo e4400 & e6400 (Tested both)
RAM: 2048mb Twinmos DDR2 PC5300
MOTHERBOARD + CHIPSET: Gigabyte 965P-DS4 (Intel 965p chipset)
GRAPHICS: 7950gt 512mb, 93.71 driver
SOUND: Onboard realtek
OS: Windows XP Pro Sp2
SPECIAL TWEAKS: Editing nvidia game profile to single core, using nHancer profile editor.

If I don't set the nvidia driver to only utilize single core, my computer will lock up when I re-enable stereo(ctrl-t twice).

It seems the game that I was using to tell if my 3d was working just wasn't working, other games work. I don't know what I did to get them to work but they do.
