For $250 I dropped an E6700 processor into my computer and wow! I can't believe it! All the problems I was having are fixed! Games are now back up to 60 or 70 FPS, my computer starts almost instantly and everything is just better!

This has to be the best single upgrade I have done since I upgraded from a P233mhz to a PII 350mhz! LOL, remember those days? Anyways, I thought I was going to have to format my HD but it turns out my last processor was the source of all my problems!

I am happy.

ATI 512MB X1900XTX

I had a similar experience when moving to the Core2Duo a year ago, it was a great upgrade!

I'm definitely glad I did it, but I've also come to conclude that the reason I was having such poor performance was because some time ago I pulled the heatsink off and it never made good thermal contact when I put it back on. I should have cleaned it and used Thermal Grease. I guess I am a bit of an idiot for that, I forgot all about it.

Anyways, it is up for sale now. Starting price is $10:
