Can someone suggest what mods would be great to add to game to look better in 2022, I have found - https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1021/, but maybe someone from You are using more mods & they work in 3d.

You might have to look around the web, some modders left nexus after their recent policy changes.

A quick search and I saw this

FWIW, I made a mod list on the old forums that had quality of life and cheats listed. The Roach mod is a must, as I recall, otherwise he can be quite bothersome.
I do not like crafting, potions and whatnot, so I just went with some OP mods, so I could focus on the story.

That is the only one I use, because when I first play a game I like it to stay close to the original version but this is just better textures.

I suppose there are other quality of life mods but I don't care much for them, the default game is good for me, I don't really find too many problems with that stuff.

Fingers crossed this new "Next Gen" free update (which will probably not be optional) does not completely break the current 3D fix.

Dec 14th, so we'll know soon enough, but Ray Tracing might make it into a DX12 game.

Next Gen update has option to run in DX11.. but... for me this just crashes when trying to use the 3D fix.. Luckily, I copied my entire Witcher 3 steam game directory prior to the update so I can happily keep using that (seems to work at least for the moment). Even though I can run Ray Tracing.. I don't care about that for this title and apparently it runs like crap anyway.

What exactly do you mean by that? The game runs just fine using the "old" 3D Vision fix while the "geo-11" version isn't working?

Or do you mean the game runs just fine when not using any 3D fix at all?

I mean using the original fix the game is starting but the fix is completely broken, and when using geo11 the game wont even start, it crashes

Yeah, this is why I took a complete copy of the game before allowing steam to update it. I now have a "Wither 3 - 3DVision" directory to run the previous version that works perfectly on my 3080 as it did before. I also have the new updated version so I can run RTX in DX12 if I ever feel the need. So, I have the best of both worlds at least.

If you didnt take a backup copy, there is an option in the steam "Betas" tab for "classic witcher 3 . 1.32" which may well be the previous pre-update version so you could try that to get the old fix working. I havent tried it as I dont really need to.

With the latest game version, geo-11 (taking the hotkeys and some others from the original d3dx.ini) works too apart from 3Dmigoto.

And by "works" I mean that it reaches ingame just fine but practically everything in the fix needs to be redone. Light shafts survived, but that's it.

You'll have to revert to the previous game version... or wait for me to fix this one. Which will take some time as I'm busy with other games. I'm going to try fixing a few things soon at least, out of curiosity.

Great news, masterotaku! I was late to the party when I finished my Witcher 3 walkthrough just about two years ago. When I was done with the main campaign the next-gen update was announced. So I held my horses with both DLCs as I wanted to enjoy both of them with the next-gen update. So, waiting a little longer now is absolutely no problem. Great to know that you'll have a look at it...

meh, almost all of the next gen update stuff found in Patch 4.0 is DX12 only and requires the latest Nvidia drivers/windows version for dx12 Ultimate.

Hi, for everybody who is strugglig a bit with Hardware Power and could not set High Resolution to get good Quality Image out of the Witcher and other Games.
Try Magpie. its an FSR standalone tool.

Just set the Game in what ever Resolution you could achieve ingame with your desired FPS and set the Game to Borderless Fullscreen.
Close the Game and set your desktop Resolution to the highest possible or what ever you would like to (even Custom Resolutions).
Start the Game which should be in a small mirror, start Magpie hit scale after 5sec and click on your Game Window.
After 5sec it should go Fullscreen.
(or use the alt+F11 when you clicked on the Window)
For me 2560x1080 Ingame and 3440x1440 Desktop looks really sharp.

My settings in Magpie (i dont know if you need them)
FSR
Graphics Capture

Options:
Run as Admin
Fake Exclussive Fullscreen

Someone told me that 425.31 didn't work, but 452.06 worked. I use 452.06 all the time.

so if i want to play version 4.00 i have to use 452.06 driver only since geo11 is included into the fix for 4.00v, right?

So I can't get Witcher 3 4.01 to run in 3D - it's probably some noob thing. I got master's latest ZIP, set output to dx11, tried fullscreen/borderless/window - nothing. geo11 is not kicking in, because Afterburner stats are in both eyes and when I modify depth only the nVidia green bar shows up. Could it have something to do with a previous geo11 version installed before? I simply updated the older version of the game to 4.01, removed the old fix and installed master's fix - no 3D :( Also, when I do Ctrl+F5/F6, I can see the mono image shift, but it's all 2D. Tried fullscreen=1 and upscaling=1, to no avail. It's a GOG version.

Anyone experienced this?

Turns out compatibility mode was on (it wasn't obvious to me). Thanks masterotaku!

@3DNovice - thx for the info, yeah, I finished the game already and just wanted to check out the new version, but yeah, at first sight it looks pretty much the same, better water though and a performance hit in some areas.

The new geo-11 fix is already done (done over two months ago, but the last update was a month ago). Maybe I didn't talk much about it here, but check the usual blog post: https://helixmod.blogspot.com/2016/06/t ... -hunt.html

As Lysander said, the problem is that geo-11 doesn't update the Nvidia profile since a few updates ago, so it doesn't automatically remove the 3D Vision compatibility mode. That's why ctrl+alt+F11 is needed for "nvidia_dx11" mode (maybe not in "nvidia_dx9", not sure) to disable that mode.
