Geo-11 3d vision 3090 latest nvidia driver (516.94) testing

Post by SubjectBucko »

I tried to run Geo-11 with 4 games using the 516.94 driver for testing purposes

I installed Edid hack on my 3dTV

I installed 3d vision driver via 3DFM and enabled 3d. I checked in the nvidia control panel and 3D is enabled with the "Optimised for Nvidia Geforce" message registering the TV as "Acer Passive 3D LCD"

When I use the test stereoscopic 3d the image is anaglyph for some reason - never experienced that before when I was on the older drivers with my 2080 Ti.

I followed all the steps in the Geo-11 blog including setting Force_stereo=2, upscaling=1 and direct_mode = nvidia_dx9. I am making sure all games running fine in 2d and ensuring fullscreen is selected.

All games running well in interlaced mode with Geo-11, except for crashes in dishonoured which seem to be tied to advanced graphic settings, I think light shafts but I am still testing this.

Just Cause 4 - anaglyph loading screen comes on and most times game crashes but on one occasion I loaded in game in windowed mode but this did not seem to be in anaglyph.
Devil May Cry 5 - initial window with masterotaku's message appears in anaglyph and then game crashes
Dishonoured 2 - crashes after blank screen and before initial loading screen which I think is a shader loading screen.
Sekiro - stream says game is running but no screen appears and then steam icon changes to play again.

Any idea why I am getting anaglyph output?

At first, it may seem unrelated, but try the instructions in the topic about DCH driver-related stalls, it could miraculously fix your issue.

But if your 3D display is this interlaced 3DTV, why even bother using the 3D Vision driver at all?
Just use direct_mode = interlaced and disable 3D in the nvidia control panel.
This will give you much better performance and compatibility with more games.

direct_mode = nvidia_dx9 is required ONLY if you're using a 3D Vision monitor (you know, the ones that require the 3D Vision glasses and emitter).

Thank you Zerofool and BazzalB.

I am using Geo-11 interlaced or tab without the 3d vision driver installed, but I tried to get Geo-11 up and running with the 3d vision driver just for testing and to build my confidence with using Geo-11.

Note that direct _mode = interlaced does not work on some interlaced LG 3D TVs like my E6. TAB should be used instead, with NO EDID override or any other software required to obtain 3D - just use TV’s remote 3D button to enable.
Dual boot VR/3D Vision disk partitioning (multiple SSDs). 3D Vision - Windows 10 v1809, 425.31 driver, 32 GB, i9-9900X@4.5 GHz, hybrid-cooled 2080Ti, 4K LG E6 OLED TV with EDID. VR/geo-11 - 3080Ti with Vive Pro 2, also have Aero, wireless lens-modified Vive Pro, Index, Reverb G2, Pimax 8K.

Finally I managed to fix the anaglyph bug by following this post by kaendd

"Finally, I managed to get it working by simply modifying a registry value. Thanks tadpole for the hint.
The location of this registry entry is here:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\StereoViewerType
I just set the StereoViewerType value to 00e20000 (instead of 00000001).
This value is for line interlaced output, if you have another type of 3D you must enter another value."

Worked straight away. The "Test Stereoscopic 3D" works in the Nvidia Control Panel but I still have to use the 3d eye swapper (same as always)

However I cannot get a single game to work on my setup (Windows 11, 3090, 516.94) with direct_mode = nvidia_dx9. I tried Just Cause 4, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Sekiro, Dishonoured 2, Devil May Cry 5. Not sure what the problem is.

They all work perfectly in interlaced. Cannot thank Dave and Bo3bber enough for creating this. Glorious to have geometric 3d on a 3000 series card without the 3-core bug.

No I am afraid. Geo-11 as in geometric 3d for dx-11 games. If your hardware can accept sbs/tab/interlaced inputs (usually 3d TV's) then superdepth is your best bet for current graphics cards/drivers and DX12 games which can be a very good substitute for geometric 3d.
I was a 3d vision surround user/and single screen 27 inch monitor 3d vision user but since I got a 65 inch OLED E6V LG TV I have not looked back. For me this setup has been superior to all my other setups. Unfortunately these TV are not obsolete and when they break down unless glasses free TVs come out then this option will be lost. I for one cannot see myself going back to 2D gaming.

I wholeheartedly concur. I have a 55" 4k passive 3D TV and gaming on it in 4k 3D is IMHO better than VR and I am a VR enthusiast. Not many people get to experience the amazing visuals of the clarity of 3D 4k gaming and sadly it doesn't look like many will in the foreseeable future.
