Steam and other apps showing black screen after swithing 2D/3D

Post by Rhialto »

Hello all,

How do you deal with Steam and some other apps left open showing a black screen after you switched 2D/3D? I'm a bit tired of closing the app to open it again and was wondering if there is a way to avoid this. I tried to disable hardware acceleration but it does nothing.

Yeah this happens to me too, steam or gog apps are black and have to close and reopen. I don't switch between 2d and 3d a lot so it's not a big deal, but if anyone knows a fix for this the better.

It happens to me too. Sometimes Steam can be saved, but GOG Galaxy always breaks.

Bonus: if you try to share your screen in Google Meet while 3D Vision is enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel, at least Google Chrome will freeze your entire PC for a while and it will be hard to kill it.

Discord was doing this and I disabled hardware acceleration and it seems to have fixed this issue...

I've noticed that if I launch Steam with 3D Vision unchecked, then check 3D Vision with Steam now open, I do not get the prompt telling me that G-Sync will be dis-abled.

I then get the black screen. I do have Steam VR installed, I wonder if it may be the culprit?
