Masterotaku has mentioned that he plans to fix it at some point, so I would hold playing it for now.

I am excited for this game. I can try run it in a couple of days if no one else does and make sure it enables, etc.

I just gave this a try. 3D kicks in but shadows are broken and some of the lighting is a bit off on some objects (Specular and diffuse lighting render fine in one eye but not the other). volumetric lights and fog are also off. Very similar issues that Nier:Automata had.

Have you tried using the original Nier fix and see if it helps?

TanookiPhoenix (thank you very much) just gifted me the game, so the fix will now come a lot sooner. I have to finish some stuff I was doing before, but right after that I'll start fixing it.

I expect to start the game this week.

Officially I've started playing half an hour ago. I've already fixed a few things. I may post screenshots tomorrow.

Better than a screenshot (which I posted on discord hours ago), here's a work in progress fix: [deleted]

I have to tweak a regex to not have to make an exception manually, but other than that, it's pretty close to perfect (in the areas I've been).

What it fixes:
- Shadows.
- Lighting (some clipping left to fix).
- Stereoized specular reflections.
- Decals.
- Volumetric lighting.
- Haloing problems (smoke, water, and other stuff).
- Skybox.
- Distortion effect.

HUD is at a static 40% depth for now.
F1 for some manual convergence presets.
F4 to reenable FXAA.
F5 to reenable motion blur.

Masterotaku, is there any way to hide the mouse cursor using 3dmigoto? I'm currently using special k to do so, but would rather not have to chain load all these dlls. I'm not even sure if it's possible to use 3dmigoto in conjunction with it.

hide_cursor = 1
In d3dx.ini. You just gave me motivation to disable it :p.

Edit: unless people are impatient, I recommend waiting for the final release of the fix. I'm still checking and tweaking one lighting shader that mostly affects cutscenes, and I want to make some automatic convergence presets for cutscenes. I also tried to get dynamic HUD, but for now I couldn't find a shader with a suitable depth buffer.

Second WIP version: [deleted]

I fixed a few effects that appeared in new areas I visited (the desert mostly, like the heatwave effect and the sun shafts there), fixed a small problem with the smoke you make when running and attacking, fixed fog (it was really hard to notice there was a problem with it to begin with), and for the moment disabled stereoization of specular reflections of one shadows related shader (it was making some cutscenes look weird. And you can't pause cutscenes so trying to make tweaks during them is almost impossible).

It also adds automatic low convergence for cutscenes, detecting when the depth of field shader is present. That shader can now be disabled with F6.

I've just finished the 5th ending. I have to check a few things, but the fix is almost ready. Expect it tomorrow if I can't finish today.

5th ending? Damn, I don't know if I'll have the time or patience to go through this game 5 times lol. I just made it past the time jump and I'm already pretty sick of all the backtracking. I loved nier automata, even though I had similar issues with it. How does the rest of the game compare to automata?

BTW awesome work on the fix so far, I haven't noticed any major issues so far.

I can't compare it to Automata because I didn't play it yet past the first hour or two.
After the first ending, you continue the game starting from "some point" after the time skip. You retain everything you got, so you don't have to repeat sidequests.
The last route is special :).
