Can we bypass 24Hz with FULLHD 3DTV through 3dvision2sbs.ini ?

Post by DugomFirst »

I'm just trying to play with my 3DTV, I usualy use my 3D monitor, I've succeful edit the d3dx.ini to get the F12 switch mode enable and 3D works, but for the 3DVision to launch, I have to be in 1920x1080 24hz, or I get the Nvidia limitation red overlay, and I can't use F12 to display the SBS mode. So there is no gain from Nvidia 3DTVPlay...

Do I missed something ?

Try to play LIS2 with SLi1080 + W7 64b on my 75".

It sounds like you're in 3dtvplay mode rather than 3d vision mode.

It's been a while since I messed around with it, but you need to edit the EDID to remove the 1920x1080@24hz and 1280x720@60hz resolutions from the EDID, or change the EDID to another device.

Then, you can be in proper 3d vision mode, use the shader to switch to SBS, then manually put your TV in SBS mode.

There's no guarantee that it will look better than 1280x720@60Hz, but it probably will depending on the scaling. You should probably try the OU shader as well as people report different results.

I can use the F12 switch to get SBS and put the TV in 3D. But only if in 24Hz.

Ok thanks. I've created several threads about EDID but never tried it...

1920x1080 in FrameSequential = 2.07Mp
1920x1080 in SBS or TB/OU = 1.04Mp
1280x720 in FrameSequential = 0.92Mp
1280x720 in SBS or TB/OU = 0.46Mp

But 3D info are in the vertical pixels so maybe TB/OU is better.

For using 1080p in side by side you can just switch from 3DTV Play to Checkerboard in Nvidia control panel and enable sbs in 3dmigoto. This removes the 24hz limit for 1080p. I don't think it would work when deleting 1920x1080@24hz and 1280x720@60hz from the EDID. Then the TV is probably detected as a 3D Vision Discover device where the image is colorized. The colorization isn't removed in side by side mode. Generic CRT would remove the colorization but you need the 3D Vision emitter to unlock it.

Yeah I'm also not sure if it will look better than 1280x720. On my old projector I just used 720p and pushed DSR to 4x. So I had 2560x1440 resolution downsampling. Didn't look overwhelming but ok.
