“We appreciate the visual experience and excitement that is driving the trend towards 3D graphics...Our cards enable a feature-rich, 3D gaming and home theater experience, especially when used in conjunction with an iZ3D 22-inch widescreen 3D display solution.” - Godfrey Cheng, Director of Technical Marketing, Graphics Products Group, AMD

In October of this year, we reported that iZ3D and AMD have joined forces to promote the benefits of stereoscopic 3D gaming through a special press tour. Furthermore, while iZ3D’s stereoscopic 3D drivers are free for iZ3D monitor users, and can be purchased through end-user licenses for alternative solutions, the 1.09 release features free DLP HDTV support for all ATI GPU owners.

It has just been announced that AMD and iZ3D have strengthened their business relationship even more by announcing an official rebate program for ATI graphics card owners towards the purchase of an iZ3D 22" 3D monitor. All existing ATI GPU owners qualify, and the $50 US rebate can be accessed online at http://www.3drulez.com and http://www.iz3d.com. A rebate form will also be included in ATI graphics packages and select retail stores. The discount must be redeemed within 30 days from the point the iZ3D monitor and drivers are installed on your computer.

While in-store availability will be announced shortly, the monitor can already be purchased through staples.com, newegg.com, amazon.com, pcmall.com, criticalbuy.com, iz3d.com and more. The current promoted price for the iZ3D 22" monitor is $399.99 US before rebate or discounts.

If you are an NVIDIA GPU owner, fret not! The iZ3D stereoscopic 3D drivers are equally compatible with NVIDIA graphics cards, and the DLP 3D HDTV output and others can be purchased through end-user license.

We think this news strongly underscores our editorial[/b] which was published just yesterday about how the gaming market is being sorely under-estimated by fellow 3D manufacturers. Whereas 3D HDTVs and similar units were sitting on store shelves without any true sales proposition to offer potential customers during the Christmas rush, our industry now has viable products that gamers (AKA "early adopters") can enjoy today - in the year 2008!

On the cinema side, 3ality has acquired a taste for 3D football, and will present an encore performance of their technology with a live 3D broadcast of the FedEx BCS Championship Game between the University of Florida and the University of Oklahoma on Jan. 8th, 2009.

This is being made possible through a partnership between 3ality Digital, Fox Sports, Sony and Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. The game will be brought to more than 80 theaters across the U.S. through Cinedigm’s CineLive(TM) satellite distribution network, marking the first time a live 3D broadcast will be available to consumers nationally. The 3D broadcast will also be seen by more than 1,200 invited guests at the Consumer Electronics Show in the RealD-enabled theater in the Paris Hotel and Casino’s Theatre des Arts in Las Vegas. The transmission will utilize trucks provided by Game Creek Video.
