I'll take one of the video camera's. I think I'll pass on the 720p HMD. I'm gonna wait until a real 1080p HMD comes out.

cheers everyone

Actually, the HMD was one of the coolest things I saw at CES. The quality was really the best I've seen - and you know how difficult it is to pull comments like that out of me.

If they can make this a lot more portable and convenient to use, I really think they have a winning product.

Regards,
Neil

That HMD looks really cool. 720P I think would be pretty nice. People also forget that its per eye, so it ends up being about the same amount of pixel data as 1080P using shutter glasses. I remember trying the old Sony Glasstron's back in the 90's. I would have imagined by this time that HMDs like this would be common place. I'm glad Sony at least has some interest in the field.

If that HMD were avialable right now for lets say up to $4500. I'd take one right now. Obviously, sub $500 would be ideal.

I'm waiting for PSP2 combined with the Sony 720p HMD... that could be awesome!

If they make such real product, with good enough FOV and not insane price, I think most of us in this forum will get one :).

How is that so? Let's take a 1080p 3D Vision monitor for example, with 1080p60 per eye. That's 1920x1080x60 pixels per second per eye. In the case of the HMD - 1280x720x60 pixels per second per eye. The negative side of the shutter tech is the amount of light that each eye gets because, of course, (more than) half of the time each eye sees darkness :), but that's another story.

Well yeah, if its 120Hz screen then you will get double the number of pixels but only only half the time, so you have to take light throughput into account too.

The performance by that Sony guy was almost painful to watch, I am glad he is the head of training, not head of PR. :P

I would love the Glasstron line to come back, especially if they can go upwards of 40 degree FOV.
