Left 4 Dead 2 VR Boost Problems

Post by vrfocus »

Hi guys,

I've managed to get Left 4 Dead 2 running in stereoscopic 3D with relative ease, however whenever I have VRBoost enabled the game crashes as soon as you leave the loading screen.

I've tried adjusting the 'minVRboostShaderCount' to near every number between 0-100 without success. Any ideas?

(Also, on a minor note when I boot a lot of items display a glowing red 'error' in place of their model. I assume this is because of the additional .dll files I've placed in the L4D2 directory being considered a hack? Does anyone know how to prevent this?)

Thanks for your help!

We've been getting new VRBoost profiles put together that use what we call "dynamic pointers". This will help ensure that the VRBoost settings work on most if not all computers rather than a portion of them. We also have new features in store too, so it's just not ready for prime time yet. I'm amazed you are getting L4D2 to run; it wasn't stable before.

Thanks for getting back to me Neil. So I guess the solution is just to ignore the motion-tracking aspect for now? If anyone's figured it out I'm willing to try other fixes!

In the meantime, do you happen to have a list of software that is 100% confirmed as working? I found a list that suggested many titles before but have had issues implementing Vireio on them; DiRT 2, for example.

If you are talking about vire.io, that list is useless for our driver right now. Same with Riftenabled and every other database we've seen. While their heart is in the right place, it's all based on Vireio Perception 1.X which has nothing to do with Vireio Perception 2.X.

Here are some games we are proud of and why:

We are working on a new version of Vireio Perception that has more robust features, crash fixes, and better rendering.

Bioshock's rating is inaccurate. We discovered new problems that are getting fixed. When you are wearing an HMD versus seeing things in a side by side format, certain problems aren't as obvious. For example, we recently learned that some screen objects aren't being properly rendered to each eye. However, it should run.

Good luck!
