Razer Hydra Not Registering Any Button Presses

So my Hydra used to work without problems, then all of a sudden they stopped working. When I open up MotionCreator 2 and it asks me to pull the left trigger, it will not detect the left trigger. I tried opening up Simple3D and it won't detect any button presses at all, and running a hydra supported game does not work either. I tried installing the correct hydra drivers again too but it still doesn't work. The base works properly and everything is plugged in correctly, but none of the button presses are being registered for some reason. I don't want to open them up (and I already tried but don't have a small enough screwdriver). Any ideas?

I had this issue, and I don't know what fixed it.

What seems to have worked was jiggling the controller plug to make it plug into the base more deeply. I feel like there is some flimsy connecting going on right there.

Yeah I tried that. Didn't work.
