Re: OVER SEAS! Oculus Rift Dev Kit Arrival Thread
I am sure that there is really no person who does indeed understand how oculus does its postal. I mean it tookthem 4 weeks to go from orders 38.xxx to 48.xxx and niw they went from 48xxx to 58xxx in one week.
Either they uped their production dramatically or they send purely in luck.

Re: OVER SEAS! Oculus Rift Dev Kit Arrival Thread
Finally pulled the trigger and bought an Oculus.
I'm from Europe, my status says:
"Order ID: 064xxx
Purchase Date: Aug 3, 2013 07:42 AM PDT
Order Status: READY:We've successfully processed the payment and information for your order. It will be shipped as soon as the items are available in stock."
On Oculus site says current orders are expected to ship in september, but seeing people here how they got their oculus after many months of waiting made me a bit worried, especially since it says it's not in stock yet. What do you think? Will i get my Oculus this year?

Re: OVER SEAS! Oculus Rift Dev Kit Arrival Thread
Don’t worry.
You'll have your Rift in 8 to 12 weeks. People were only waiting months from Kick-starter. They only started shipping units the past 3 months and were posting out backorders for the first couple of months. They still have a bit to go to catch up on backorders as they look like they are selling about 1000 development kits a week and only producing between 1200 – 1500 a week. I ordered mine last week but I expect it around late September early October. Best thing to do is to put it out of your mind for now as you’ll lose your mind in anticipation
It’s probably best to go out and see some of the real world for now before you migrate to VR Nirvana. All will then be lost to Code and Pixels

I ordered on July 2nd (Order Number: 59XXX)
received my processing mail last tuesday!
You guys from Europe (especially Germany) should check your UPS tracking (Enter Order Number without the "0"). It says that my Rift will be here on Wednesday, so it took only a bit more than a month for me!

My Rift should also coming on Wednesday.
52XXX, Germany.
I hope delivery is tomorow, and Wednesday is just estimated, stucks 70 Km away frome me since sunday.
The timing is so perfect, i had finished my professional retraining as Fachinformatiker / Systemintegration (specialised computer scientist) last week. Now I have some sparetime for the Rift.
Riftmas is coming!

whooo yeah - wifey just taken receipt of a largish box from UPS - I guess a lot of UK deliveries will be made today after the recent swath of processing announcements. Never got any other updates from Oculus though - had to do the UPS tracker trick.
order #57xxx ordered early June.
Can't wait to get home - so many demos - so little time !

INCOMING!
My Rift is also here, merry riftmas!
Due to a false configuration in Minecrift, I had my first vr-sickness, so I will try further demos.
Not a nice feeling, but the sensation of the other experiences is greater.

Re: OVER SEAS! Oculus Rift Dev Kit Arrival Thread
After ordering in the original pre-order phase last year and then selling my dev kit after a couple of weeks I got Rift-envy as iRacing surprised the world by including native support 3 weeks ago.
So, I ordered another one today
I'll keep this one, I promise. FWIW the 1st one got sold to a business not a private buyer so should have resulted in something being developed rather than just me playing demos.

Re: OVER SEAS! Oculus Rift Dev Kit Arrival Thread
New update from official site
We've recently shipped 1,000 developer kits from our fulfillment center to customers in US and Canada.
There are around 500 units about to ship to customers in non-North American, non-European countries.
Another 1,000 kits are on track for shipment to European customers early next week.
Fingers crossed I'll get mine.

Congrats to you Processing-Guys.
It seems, Oculus have ramped up the production and the logistics.
Just a from me, how fast they deliver now.
A good sign, for the future.

The whole lot together was about 280 euros for the Rift and Shipping. Dont know yet if I will have to pay VAT when it gets here but as far as I know thats the total price. I should hopefully have mine late this week or early next week.Dubh wrote:whelanweb wrote:Just got email this morning saying that my order is going to be processed in the next couple of days. Where to get the tracking number if no actual shipping has occured? It's just processing and will ship in next batch, at least that's my status now.

Cool, it's arriving tomorrow. You goto UPS.COM and search for your order using your Oculus order number but without the leading zero.
Track by reference and select your county. Sweet! Tracking details just appeared in the last few hours.

Thanks for the info, didn't know you can use that number for tracking. My order was shipped from UK, so i won't pay any local taxes (customs and such).

Re: OVER SEAS! Oculus Rift Dev Kit Arrival Thread
Hi Guys
Sorry I've not reported back as I've been busy all week playing with my new Rift. I ordered it on the 31st July and received it last Friday the 23rd of August. Only had to wait 23 days to Ireland
Anyway I'm happy with the purchase and it is well worth the 300 dollars I spent. I know a HD version is in the works and I will be getting that as soon as its out but for now the experiences I'm getting from the rift is indescribable.
Top 10 Things to try in the Rift when you get yours
1. Rift Coaster
2. Titans of Space
3. HL2
4. VR Cimema
5. iRacing ( if you have a wheel. if not dont bother )
5. Blue Marble
6. Tuscany
7. IR Full Body Scans ( nude woman
8. Parrot Coaster
9. Ocean Rift
10. Dragon VR
I've kept the list above to almost all free DEMOS except Half Life 2 as this really is a must see. Once you play it in VR you will have no doubts about where the future of games are going. Just a note of warning however HL2 did make me feel a bit quezzy as I played it for 25 mins on my first day without a break.
Just take some breaks between sessions and build up your VR legs.

Re: OVER SEAS! Oculus Rift Dev Kit Arrival Thread
Mine arrived today, as expected. Placed the order 24 days ago. Sadly i'm caught up in something and won't have time for it until Sunday, but i was impressed by its case, i could go to war with it, lol.
Surprised by its lightness, relative to size. When mounted on my head, with the screen at the closest position, my eyelashes touch a little the lenses; also, my nose brushes against the plastic cups. No apparent discomfort, but i'm worried the lenses will need frequent cleaning. Maybe i'll distance the screen just a little bit, i'll see how this affects the view (as soon as i get acces to my PC).

Wow 27 days and 24 days
I read somewhere some time ago that they were staggering loads. Month on month off for different regions.
Does anyone know if this is still the case?
Jeez - this has me all excited .... Well..... Even more excited!

A bunch of people received emails this evening......
I dived into my email and BAYAM - there it was.
