I was putting together a little demo with my Rift and a Wiimote for 360 body tracking (Using FreePIE wiimote beta code) and Museum of the Microstar Rift demo.
I then realized that even with games that do support independent head and body rotation wont work with 360 body rotation, that's because they use the Rift SDK in a way that only support fixed body position (Sitting fixed in a chair and using mouse for body rotation).
For 360 independent head and body rotation you would need to calculate the delta between the body IMU and the head IMU and use this to center the head rotation to the body rotation.
So I urge all software developers of Rift content to support the new API in FreePIE called FreePIE IO
https://github.com/AndersMalmgren/FreeP ... /IO-Plugin
Its a solid way of letting the user calibrate the Rift headtracker to a body tracker and give him the power to script how he want the body and head tracker to respond in game.

Re: 360 body rotation problem
Yeah, I'd love the ability to do this as well.
How do you suggest that we support it? Is there a way we can vote for the API?

Re: 360 body rotation problem
I'm pretty sure you can support seperate head and body rotation, it works just fine in my demo;

What is the limitation here?

Re: 360 body rotation problem
It will only work with exactly that hardware. He has code that syncs the Rift head yaw to the Hydra body yaw. It will never work for any other hardware in 360 configuration (Your at the mercy of the devs that they include your hardware).Teddy0 wrote:I'm pretty sure you can support seperate head and body rotation, it works just fine in my demo;

Thats why I urge to include body / weapon / head tracking through FreePIE IO
@blazespinnaker Hmm, i dont know any good petition, any ideas?
