How do I reset the IPD settings?

Post by mayaman »

I've totally screwed them up in TF2 and can't get them to reset to default. I've deleted the CFG file and uninstalled and deleted the entire TF2 folder. But it still remembers my old settings.

thanks

You'd have to delete your cloud copy of your config file. Don't really know how to do that sadly. Have you attempted to just redo the vr_calibration? Even if you think you messed up you can get it realigned. Otherwise, I'd ask someone to open their unedited .cfg file (pretty much anyone with the game and no oculus) and copy the code over to replace it. I wish I could be more helpful but I don't know of any other solutions.

Thanks, I have attempted to redo it but its so screwed up that I cant find any of the green lines. Gah, why isn't there a default reset.

When I look at my arms and gun I see a double image. sucks

Here are the values I got after calibration (IPD of ~68mm):
vr_ipdtest_left_t "150"
vr_ipdtest_left_b "622"
vr_ipdtest_left_i "617"
vr_ipdtest_left_o "150"
vr_ipdtest_right_t "155"
vr_ipdtest_right_b "644"
vr_ipdtest_right_i "619"
vr_ipdtest_right_o "174"
vr_separation_user_inches "2.680099"

Those aren't the defaults, but they should be close enough. You could reapply each in the console, and then start calibration again.

And here's where you should be placing the lines:
Left eye (right eye closed):
1. Right edge of your vision
2. Left edge
3. Top edge
4. Bottom edge
Right eye (left eye closed):
5. Left edge of your vision
6. Right edge
7. Top edge
8. Bottom edge
Overall IPD
9. Both eyes, left and right edges. Normally you don't change this directly.

Also, remember to set your desktop resolution, and resolution in TF2 to 1280x800 before attempting calibration, or you'll get incorrect results.
