FlymachineVR - New Oculus Rift game to be kickstarted soon.
This is a preview of the game Flymachine VR. A new arcade style flysim especially made with native Oculus Rift VR support. The open design of the vehicle allows for extra immersion in VR mode and delivers new and unique game-play features.
FlymachineVR game is currently under development at Marbas-Studio.
Features:
Original and open vehicle design for VR.
100% Physics based simulation.
See your body in VR! (Prototype character to be changed).
Use the flymachine's mini-crane to pick up and carry cargo to it's destination. Weight and momentum affect flight dynamics.
Mission based game mechanics.
Weapons systems. Including heat seeking rockets you need to guide with head tracking to hit the target.
Compatible with non-VR pc-gaming systems.
Scheduled for release Q1 2014.

Nice. If a possible Rift Release requires 10 games then we are 10% closer to it.
Does anybody know where i can find a list of Rift games that are coming?

Wow, this looks great. Love the idea of open vehicle design, tell us more about the game format/storyline?
I'm a huge FSX fan and RW pilot so anything like this gets my interest.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys!
I cannot at this point disclose yet the storyline in detail, as much of it is subject to change.
Storyline is still being worked on and a website is under development for the game with info, screens and videos.sevenalvan wrote:Wow, this looks great. Love the idea of open vehicle design, tell us more about the game format/storyline?

Looks fricken' awesome! I've always wanted to fly an ultralight/hang glider/whatever, and this looks to be similar (open type of aircraft), so I'll probably be throwing money your direction whenever the campaign starts
Any idea when the Kickstarter might start?

Thanks man, appreciated!
Kickstarter launch date is not set as of yet... but soon
One of this game's main feature is the ability to hover over cargo of different types and weights. Hook it up with the flymachine's winch, lift it up and carry it to a designated location. All of this require heavy use of the headtracking to look down and precisely hook-up with the cargo. Any extra weight will as you'd expect affect the dynamics and speed of the aircraft. Position tracking would make a huge difference for gameplay in this game, but in the meantime there is a head-neck model implemented that gives pretty good results and helps improving game mechanics.

Looks really cool! I really dig the art style.
Of course you still have to build a whole game around it but so far so good. I'll kickstart that in a heartbeat!

Looks great, just make it have fiery air-car crashes and semi-realistic car damage like Flatout 2, which it seems to resemble.

This game looks rad, marbas! Hopefully you'll allow for the aircrafts to be souped up so they can carry extra weight, gain additional speed, etc.

Now THAT would be sweet! Have different tradeoffs for different parts... Like bigger engines = higher lifting capacity = lower agility.MSat wrote:This game looks rad, marbas! Hopefully you'll allow for the aircrafts to be souped up so they can carry extra weight, gain additional speed, etc.
Not sure whether that goes along with what you're picturing as an end product, but I think that'd be pretty cool!

From the start this game has been planned to be a singleplayer experience. But I am considering the possibility to add a multiplayer racing modeBleppe wrote:I'd love to see some kind of multiplayer racing aspect too ;D
Thanks MrGreen, glad you like it so farMrGreen wrote:Looks really cool! I really dig the art style.

Yes damage effects are a planned feature in the game.Direlight wrote:Looks great, just make it have fiery air-car crashes and semi-realistic car damage like Flatout 2, which it seems to resemble.
Thank you! Yes the aircraft is meant to be loaded with extra weight and cargo that you can hook up with the aircraft's winch. Flying around with the extra load attached will affect the physics of the aircraft. Also if the engines get damaged it will affect how the aircraft behaves.MSat wrote:This game looks rad, marbas! It definitely goes along with my planned features for this gameElectroPulse wrote:Not sure whether that goes along with what you're picturing as an end product, but I think that'd be pretty cool!

Looks great, just the type of style that Rift VR needs. Nice high contrast graphics etc. I reckon if paired with a very basic motion platform (say just about 6" of pitch/roll) it would be really freaky.

@WiredEarp
No doubt a motion platform would augment the feeling of immersion. The aircraft can roll 360 very easily on all axes, but most of the time you fly parallel to the ground, so yeah, combining the game with a motion platform would be awesome

The site it's not really down.. It's just not done yet But soon this week, or the next, it should be online with more info about the game.mickman wrote:Hmm.. looks like fun..

Yes there will be the ability to walk around in 1st person and probably 3rd person also (both for character and vehicles). 3rd person works really well in VR if done properly.
Ejecting and parachuting will also be a feature in the game
