I was thinking about this today...
I don't know how it fits in with the MTBS certification programme, but what we should be promoting is, of course,
native stereo!
- pixel-perfect S-3D as the developer intended it
- no restrictions on how the scene is rendered
- no-one has to mangle the game through hacky stereo drivers that break all the effects
- no 'anomalies' whatsoever
- the player just concentrates on playing their game
- everyone wins!
The thought of trying to make a game compatible with stereo drivers gives me nightmares - there are so many
good effects that just won't work... It's like playing Bohemian Rhapsody on bagpipes!
The message we should be giving to developers is:
People have 3D monitors now. It's time to make stereoscopic games. Don't let those stereo drivers mangle your work.
