Stereoscopic 3D, else Native 3D in Steam-In Home Streaming

Post by Dom »

Hello I am an active user of the company streaming DRM company STEAM: http://store.steampowered.com/

Now, I have been trying out their new (in home steaming) personal computer-to-personal computer (pc-to-pc) over lan, specifically "powerline Ethernet" speed @ 100mbs {full duplex}

Steam systems also has is made that you can have video acceleration [decoding, encoding] and also software cpu processor transencoding all with high quality game engine sound 128 D rings 32 awe sampling with direct over to soundcard, standard.

So the main problem I am having is that there seems to be no lcd pageflipping and only red/blue. The end point video steam does go full screen and stays that way but the 3d from what I have seen does not work either with a dedicated app on the local machine or by having the display detected as a virtual host on the host machine. I think its better to have a virtual display host and client detects as that for compatibility and Ethernet packet loss completion.

And the most important thing about this steam in home steaming is that there should be that SVP, smooth video playback at a lesser compliance than what is available for motion picture. I also know that I could perhaps hack my way to get all this to work but I honestly don't want to mess around to much and the process might be in steam portfolio to make money and then they must abide their product.

I still would try out a beta workaround then let them know maybe, I'm always connected online mostly. Hope I can get helped out.

 well maybe this streaming thingymaduie stuff is not so good and a big joke, but I did for a few minutes see it in Superb Splendid Matter on my tv set playing Dirt 3 and I know the difference between streaming client and dedicated host machine input, frames per second, response, timing clocks per host and clocks to dedicated client buffer, sounds. It all takes up a lot of performance.

So I did call Nvidia support and explained this situation with steam acting finiky and funny with what its supposed to do with in home streaming. They basically said "final word its not supported" and that their shield stream tablet and controller is supported better. And that they don't know to much or can't help with 3rd party software packages, like steam Valve corp. And that enabling stereoscopy on steam in home streaming was also not supported and just say that its better to hook up a dedicated machine in your home theatre. Any way I look at this is sounds like "spent money", which is okay> but I cannot recommend going to spend and plurge the stores more for something that could possibly work better with a steady software package.

Usually if I have to tinker around with my lan to much it means someone in the corperations software and hardware specs programs folk are messing things up to much comparing home users software and consumer devices with expensive money making corporate givens. Meaning wholey I might as well just shut my computer down and not even play a video game anymore. So buy, try once then turn off and kick the can.

And more all about all this streaming stuff is that they said on your Ipod, the apps you use on your Ipod consumes electricity Amounts to running a Refrigerator. So they want to discourage people even more and talk about disconnecting the plug on holidays and things like that. I would say the full timers just need to get more sleep and quit living in the fast lane thinking they can four up with glamour mag.

I wonder how most other people feel who loose thousands or even 10's to the crypt core.

I didn't have much luck with the Steam streaming thing. I was using Wifi (which they tell you not to do) but it was horrible. Literally like 10 - 15 seconds of lag. Unplayable.

In any case, the quality was poor even for the brief moments it worked.

Hey, so guess what?
I did get this Steam In Home Streaming working good! Its not a joke and WORKS GOOD.

I made a home video to show how to get (in home streaming) working in 3d. Its not that complicated, but you do need the right hardware and software.
I did not show the steam settings I made in the In-Home-Streaming control panel so I list them here:
---------------------------------
serverside host machine - do not join steam *beta* - steam panelette - In-Home Streaming - Advanced Host Options - Enable hardware encoding (check mark) - prioritize network traffic (check mark)

Client streaming machine - joined steam *beta* - steam panelette - In-Home Streaming - Advanced Host Options - Enable hardware encoding (check mark) - prioritize network traffic (check mark) [] Client Option: Beautiful (clicked bullet) - Advanced Client options - Limit bandwidth to ( Unlimited (increases latency) ) - Limit resolution to (1280x720 (720p) ) - Enable hardware decoding (checkmark)

And that's pretty much it as far as steam settings
Powerline Ethernet and 2x wifi adapter, so 3 network adapters
Host machine is amd 6 core cpu 16 gig ram and Nvidia gtx 670 (windows 8.1)
Client machine is amd 4 core 4 gigs ram and amd 6450 minicard htpc steam box (windows 7)

Hi, so I been still trying this in home streaming and now it works better than ever but on dx9, dx11 is kind of sketchy.

I also bought yesterday a steam controller for 59.99 and tried it out. I Like it Lots, it gives a way better experience than an xbox controller, I still have to fine tune it but the touch buttons on it are really cool. It feels good in my hands too.

Heres some pics of it at my place.

You can buy it at EB Games in the store, I just went to the store and picked it up at West Edmonton Mall, or you can order it online and have it shipped through EB Games I think. They have a Steam Link I might buy too, I have to wait and see if I need it over my windows 7 htpc.
