Hi,

Ive been offered the Original iZ3d 17" at $100.

Will the monitor work with the new iz3d drivers?

Anyone has this that can share their thoughts?

Thanks!

Alan

We don't do hardware reviews at MTBS, but I will make an exception in this case - only because you can do so much better with a later model and for reasonable cost.

The 17" model was a prototype for the later and much improved 22" iZ3D monitor. I have gone through two of them prior to the 22" release, and they didn't last long thanks to burning circuitry and blown screens. I also cut my hand twice on the sharped edged glass on the monitor's design when lifting it. It hurt!

Save your money for the modern version or something else - especially if you are buying this used.

Regards,
Neil

LOL the guy now says he will let it go for $50 . Hmmm, is it that bad? I have shutter glasses and hate the darkness of it, and without them I use anaglyph and colors suck. You having owned two of them, Is it at least better than shutter glasses and anaglyph?

It wont be soon until I get a 22" one so is it good for the time being?

$50 is safe. You will enjoy it. Save your money for something better, though!

Dude! Don't waste your time.

Take that monitor back, and get yourself something modern. I went through two of those prototypes. It's not worth your time if it isn't working out of the box.

Regards,
Neil

I managed to get a InFocus IN1102 WXGA (1280 x 800) DLP projector 720p - 2200 ANSI lumens. Will play around with it. Also was wondering if anyone has a Sony FW900 24" CRT Monitor. I think it has 120hz refresh rate and 2000+ resolution and Im getting kind of interested in getting one.

No problem! Remember, you might have issues getting the refresh rate that high on higher resolutions... But CRTs are not like LCDs, where scaling looks ugly. There is no such thing as a real "Native" resolution that must be stuck to on CRTs, so even lower resolutions are very smooth. :)
