Feet tracker idea. Needs help.

Post by Bluedeath »

I was searching for a way to track my feets for a DIY vr treadmill. Then i had an idea:
Basically if i use an imu (still undecided if: arduino and a 6050mpu, A modified ps3 controller motherboard or a couple of wiimotes) over the shoe and a pressure switch under the shoe it should be possible to track the gait if the movement command is sent to the pc only when the pressure switch is engaged (the trick is to reverse commands because when you walk the foot that is pushing you goes from front to back).
The theory is easy but i need to find a way to use the accellerometer as if they were "springloaded" basically as if to return to center "joystick" position when no movement is recorded plus i need to measure accelleration on a plane not in an angular way.
What would be the best way to achieve this? Maybe with freepie?
Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance.
