Painting a Wall For a Projector; Any Recommendations?

Hi Guys!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I got a gift package this week including a Panasonic PT-AE7000 1080P 3D Projector. Sweet!

I want use a basement wall as my screen. However, I understand it's better to use a paint better suited for projection. There are brands for this, but I imagine there are more inexpensive solutions that do the same.

Any recommendations?

I'm not prepared to do a million paint mixes or anything crazy. I just want to paint a wall or find something cheap that does a great job!

I use a normal white wall, no special paint needed. It looks fine.

If you want to get fancy, you can get something from Goo Systems (or so I've heard, never tried it myself).

Try not get any paint that the coating is shiny, to avoid glare. Now, it has been many years (since early 2000's) that I experimented with projecting on to walls. But it should be easy task.

I used to have my projector beaming onto a pulldown screen. I got the screen so I could have a tv set behind it. The wall color I had was a light Grey. Almost like silver and viewing 3d movies and games looked perfectly fine. I have a projector setting that adjusts the color balance to different wall colors.

The color was matte Grey/silver and white matte should look good.

If your worried about wall color like having dark blue, I'd just pick up a projector screen.

Your gonna be amazed at the dlp tech Neil. It pretty cool with blu-ray 3d.

Hey I measured just to be sure, cause I don't want to spread rumors and Its just a wall screen so...
I shot a video to show what it looks like with NBA 2K 12 on the ps3. The video is here: http://cns-nynolyt.com/3dstuff/domsdlpscreen.MP4 >put it in layout format FrameSequential for 3d.

I measured with a ruler 340 centimeters
2.54 cm is 1 inch

340/2.54=134 inchs

Now proper measuring of a screen goes like this, from what my uncle has shown me.

You measure in cm's the diagonal screen size then find the quartered number of the whole diagonal like
340cm/4=85cm , then do this to find the final calculation. Quarter the screen size then double the 3 quarters of it. So 85cm + 85cmx3x2=595cm/2.54= 234.25 inchs

So your screen Cybereality if you measured 115 inches diagonally, your normal size would be this, 115in /4 = 28.75 x3x2 + 28.75 = 201.25

Its something to do with Pythageron.
To me it feels way more immersive than at the theatres, I'm gonna watch Superman Man of Steel soon.
