SDK 0.7 and Vireo Perception? (Removal of Extended Mode)

Post by Hstreet »

I just read the announcement that beginning with 0.7 they are removing Extended Mode and instead have garnished support from both Nvidia and AMD to add a Direct to Driver Mode..

My main concern is a few of the games I love on the DK2 with native support (Alien, Euro Truck 2) but also some of the best experiences I've had are with some of the games on the Vireo (Bioshock 2 being the best VR experience yet)

Do you for see Vireo being able to operate in the direct to driver mode?

I don't see (currently) why not.. Recent version 3.0 added direct mode support, with any luck it will be a variation on that, with most of the heavy lifting being done in the OVR SDK code.

Any apps that were built with 0.6.0.0 or 0.6.0.1 SDKs and worked in Direct Mode should work fine in 0.7.

It's the same for 0.8.

While everything worked fine for me on Oculus Runtime 0.7 and Perception 3.0.0a2, Oculus Runtime 0.8 does not currently work with perception 3.0.0a2.

Clarification:

Im on a Geforce GTX 970 and tried GeForce drivers 358.70 and 358.78. I reset all the settings in perception. The game i tried was TES:Skyrim.
