I love good FoV. Even Dk2 amezed me in experience of desk in void experince . where you can see a board in front of you. Yourself seating in chair. You can see around blue plain and can get up from chair and feel positional tracking. All was neat awesomeness. Its Tuscany visuals which made me feel bad. As same demo had tried in cardboard where it blow me away.

So for me its good visuals priority 1 and FoV priority 2. Still I full hearty accept if Higher FoV offered with Crisp Visuals. Unless there are some secret super optics brewed in underground lab. I think at 90 or even 85~80 degree with RGB 2560x1440 OLED you can hit sweet spot. If any one can try NEXUS 6 with VRElia or Zeiss VR one. Though Zeiss has Tray hessals. They should go universal 4.5 to 6 inch model with some work in casing.

I too believe in curved display biggest advantage awsome horizontal FoV. But how much justice current optics can do is subject of doubt. They may be more subject to color bending or abbration under optical magnification too I suspect. I also am surprised why such huge amount of chromatic abbration in Dk2 optics??

I tried Epson Moverio BT-100 my first intro to HMD. Then cardboard and DK2 out of which Cardboard impressed visually. Tracking Dk2.

I tested curved book page with curved fresnels stack (very thin fresnels) The curvature is the same on both bookpage and fresnells, approx 3 cm distance between book and fresnels. text is wery nice sharp in all view positions, this means that you can look around L/ R and all is sharp. Whole FOV is covered.
Can you imagine this with flexibke OLED? I estimate the weigt of this combination not more than 20g!

I think You are missing piece of puzzle. book page when seen through fresnel in reflected light (Natural or CFL) and is not emitting light thus may seem ok. curved lcd screen that emits light may behave different way.

I have noticed aberration even on my straight screen of moto g when magnified through fresnel. so i guess that's problem with Fresnels.

On side thought- if you have Samsung/Lg showroom near by you can go with Fresnel card/flexy page magnifier and check curved led TV magnification results.

I guess it will give right idea and most likely bad distorted and abbration full image even when you match curve perfectly... I be glad if it turn out otherwise. ;)

I've been pretty content to wait for CV1, but reading CES news made me fiddle with my DK1/RiftUp! again last night. I tried getting VR Cinema (0.4b, from Oculus Share) running again after several failed attempts a few months ago. Finally, I tried swapping out different versions of OculusPlugin.dll, and found that using one from an old version (pre-DK2) of the "Welcome to Oculus" demo worked! (The version of the file from the Blue Marble demo allowed VR Cinema to launch and play, but didn't detect mouse movement or certain controller inputs, so I couldn't walk around the theater or change from 2D/3DSBS/3DTB.)

Not sure anyone else cares at this point, but I'm excited. :) I can archive and upload the file later tonight after work, for future availability.

Edit: File attached here. Instructions:

1) Open <VrCinema_v04 location>\VrCinema_Data\Plugins.
2) Rename the original "OculusPlugin.dll" file as a back-up (i.e. "OculusPlugin.dll_bak").
3) Extract the attached RAR into this directory.

This would be good, sometimes small pieco of software is missed an you cannot find it.

With flexible oleds - we have to wait...but this is the way for hmd - thin and not so heavy

Project pre CES, pre facebook was about fun and sharing and open, people tell me now with billions on the line, maybe not safe to talk about how to do end runs around what kingmakers want with software and hardware on DEVELOPER KIT and DEVELOPER SOFTWARE, hate to see anyone get in legal trouble that don't have power like my uncle and republican congress behind them, may not want to be so public with things? I don't know, not a lawyer. Thank you tremendously for sharing the info, I have heard rumors that certain people with dk1 dk2 talking about doing certain things have been told they are gonna get in trouble.

The issue is finding a driver board so that it can accept HDMI 1.3
