Now if they could fill a virtual arcade with MAME powered arcade machines then I'd be more impressed
I do like the concept of playing real games on virtual hardware though.

YouTube:
Their website is pushing the low-resolution 2-D game with its "text-heavy" user interface. It is not touting the Rift-specific features shown in your video embedded above.
The downloads DO appear to be Rift-ready, as you have shown in your embedded video. Too bad their website seems to be only pushing the 2-D game, and not the greater VR experience that contains it. They could probably get a LOT more donations if the advertised the Rift features at their kickstarter page.
Although I did not play their web-based Unity demo more that a quick samping of it, it seems to be only the inner 2-D "game within the game". Where is the VR at their kickstarter page, that could drive their modest kickstarter to success?
There is a new (and longer) "Final Week" video on the kickstarter page.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vDqQBvtu0NU wrote: Published on May 28, 2013
Is playing City Quest on a modern computer not realistic enough for you? Wish you could really get into the world of the 1980s gamer? Now you can!
We put our game on a computer in our game on your computer!
Play it on the Oculus Rift!

Okay, I backed it. A game that is DESIGNED to run at low resolution should not cause any neck-strain when played in the relatively low resolution (for typically restricted FoV) Rift.

Re: City Quest on the Oculus Rift: Coolest Demo I've Ever Se
Hey everybody! Ryan from Stone Monkey Studios (the dev of this) here!
I just wanted to chime in with a little bit of context!
I backed the rift on the Kickstarter and I've been eagerly awaiting its arrival! Meanwhile, we've been working on other projects, and our main one right now is this, City Quest, a point and click adventure game.
Well, obviously the idea of VR for something so low tech/ low res as this adventure game was an absurd idea, but we were working one day and my partner mentioned this idea. Well, we whipped this up this past weekend, and what you see is what we came up with in 2 days! It was more of a "silly" type thing, almost to the point of parody, but when we tossed it to the community, they seemed to enjoy the idea (even if not interested in the game itself).
So, the reason we haven't been pimping the Rift support, is because it's so new! It's also not central to our game, really, it's just (at the moment) frosting on the pixely cake. We will probably expand the experience, but really, it's just a cool little thing we added .
Some folks have suggested expanding the experience to include different scenes, or emulators/different hardware. That won't be this game, but we like the idea, so we might start another project to do this!
Cheers, friends!

I backed. Even though I may never play the game, I support the genre and spirit with which it was presented, and the Rift vid game me Ready Player One flashbacks for some reason
