Quote: Master Thesis: VR technology in games
The master thesis will focus on next generation VR technology and how to best implement support in video games. This requires adding basic support in existing technology. Other areas of interest include modifications to better fit first person games, reducing latency, stereoscopic issues.
Applicant should have experience in C++ programming. Knowledge about VR technology and rendering is recommended.
Task include:
Explore existing research for relevant subjects
Investigate and implement support for Occulus Rift SDK in the Frostbite Engine
Investigate and implement techniques for improving user experience
The Master Thesis is a non-paid and temporarily employment . The Master Thesis needs to be associated with a University education or any other type of education that has an Master Thesis period planned into the education plan. Please consider this before applying and potentially move to Stockholm, Sweden. Saw this news posted on neogaf and figured i would spread the news as well! very exciting! source: https://performancemanager4.successfact ... DH5SZrY%3d

Quote: The Master Thesis is a non-paid and temporarily employment . Lets hope someone takes up on that opportunity And lets also hope they will have someone internally that is also involved, at least in an advisory role, because otherwise it would only seem like a "We'll add Rift support if we get it for free" thing... which is a bit disappointing, but still something I guess. To not end on such a low tone, perhaps they just need someone to start the work, and they'll add more people to the VR-team once they know what kind of work needs to be done...

Lol, it's unpaid and requires you to move to Stockholm, shouldn't that be a local ad?

If I were doing my Master's thesis and I were rich (well, rich enough to survive a couple years in Sweden with no income), I'd sure as hell do it.

Jokes aside, the more traction Rift gets, the better. Whether its Joe Rogan's podcast, or a DICE internship, any press is good press.

It is a REALLY good news for everyone here (and every gamers in the world). It shows how attractive the Rift can be even for big games studios.

Wow!! Battlefield on the rift now that would be amazing Could be the thing that would bring vr to the masses I also imagine the situational awareness you'd get from the rift, would give a rift user an edge over a non rift user Imho it would be cool if oculus backs and guides the person that does the master thesis, getting support in frostbite would be huge

Lucky person who will get to do that thesis! At least when I went to law school in Stockholm you were allowed to start your master thesis at any time. There was a designated time for it at the end of the education but you were allowed to start as soon as you wanted.

As far as I know you have to at least finish your bachelors degree until starting on a master thesis? I'm still only in my second year of my bachelor programme. If you don't have to - sweet!

Regards, Neil Isn't it tomorrow in Australia, yet? It will be in 20 minutes in Austria, so in Australia it should already be morning. He needs to be more precise about his timezones

Sounds good to me... BF3 is my favorite of the military shooters, so if they implement rift support in BF4 then it'll be a no-brainer for me. Now to work on getting irrational games to modify the unreal engine 3 to support this in bioshock infinite and I'll be happy... for now.
