Hi Guys!

MTBS' Birthday Bonanza contest is going well, and I'm thinking there is room to try something fun.

We have a bonus prize reserved for what we call "The Ultimate 3D Gamer". We haven't announced what the prize is yet, but we are certain the winner will be thrilled. I think we lucked out with this prize pack.

However, we can't just give this away. We need to know who the ultimate 3D gamer is - and they need to show themselves! What do you think of the idea of opening the floor for members to submit a YouTube video or article explaining why they think they are the ultimate 3D gamer? I think this would be a lot of fun if members would participate. It would be cool to see members show off their crazy 3D rigs, or tell stories of how much they love 3D gaming, etc. It would also be easy for members to submit to MTBS.

Does this sound like an exciting idea?

Yeah, seems cool. But how come the poll is locked? I can't vote in it.

Not sure if I consider myself an "ultimate gamer" though. I barely have any time to game since I spend all my time on the forums!!!!!

But it would be cool to share pics of our gaming rigs and 3D setups.

How could the poll be locked?!? Are other people having trouble voting? I was wondering why the message was getting lots of views and no votes.

I think cybereality is the ultimate 3d gamer!

Ultimate 3d-gamer implies skills in gaming and huge interest for 3d. My interest for 3d is basically what feeds my interest for gaming so...

However: I'd like to nominate Blackshark for the title.

Who is this Blackshark you speak of? The mountain tribes sing of him as they circle their fires waving 3D glasses in-hand, others throw dusty CRT monitors in a bottomless pit as a Blackshark sacrifice, and his virtual conquests of unparalleled danger is supposedly legendary - and yet...he is nowhere to be found on MTBS. Has be been vanquished in monoscoper battle? We can only nominate those who regularly appear on MTBS and demonstrate the traits of being an ultimate 3D gamer! These prizes aren't for posthumous winners! Prove to us that Blackshark still lives and that his 3D warrior voice is still strong on MTBS, and we will give this all the consideration it is due.

Sure BlackShark has some skills, but I say Cyberreality beats him hands down- he is slicker, more courageous and more skillful

It's strange that members are PMing me that the thread is locked when it isn't. I'm wondering if they are accessing it in forums that are locked (it's a global thread appearing in all forums and sub forums). Could someone confirm if where the thread is accessed from affects the ability to post in it?

The section "MTBS Forum Announcements & FAQ" is globally locked, so I guess that makes all threads within it locked.

I'm new to this site, but it seems like you may want to differentiate between:

Ultimate 3D Gamer - best rig
and
Ultimate 3D Gamer - best gamer

Unfortunately, the two can be mutually exclusive. I love 3D gaming but I can't whip my HMD and tracker rig around nearly as fast as I can move my mouse.

The deal seems to be if you view it in the original forum, its locked.

If you view it from another forum, it works.

Re the 'ultimate 3D gamer' I think the whole idea is a bit fraught with issues. Firstly, to determine who the 'ultimate 3d gamer' was would be pretty much impossible, since it varies according to game.

If its based on the 'ultimate 3d gaming rig' it would be much easier to determine. However, then you have issues comparing people with triple projector setups to those with HMZ and gamegun trackers, etc.

I think that guy who has the motion platform and the triple projector setup might be a contender personally, lots of us have triple screen setups etc, but motion is something extra.

Well, I think it would be fun to have people submit YouTube videos, talk about their rigs, their first 3D gaming experiences, etc. What matters most is if people would participate somehow. Judging is a separate issue.
