Beam Splitter Glass for Heads Up Display?

Post by 2KN »

Trying to create DIY heads up display and was wondering if this plate beam splitting glasshttp://www.edmundoptics.com/optics/beam ... tters/2035 would be a good fit. I was thinking that 70R/30T would be best. If 70% of the incident light from coming from a monitor (at 45º angle) is reflected into the eye that would give a nice crisp image correct? Hoping to use monochrome color (green or red) and that everything that is black on the monitor would come out clear through the glass—I still want to be able to see through glass during daytime similar to this set up: http://cdn2.ubergizmo.com/wp-content/up ... up_616.jpg. I obviously have no optics or science background, but looking for a surface that is can reflect back images on the eye but be transparent as well, not a one-eye one-inch google glass thing, but a full vision thing. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Curt
