Video showing off realistic Wiimote Pistol

Post by metronome »

Hi I have finally gotten a useable setup of the Bigben Walther P99 Wii controller and Blue Estate up and running. As it is an officially licensed replica from Walther, I doubt there will ever be a better gaming accessory.

Take a look at my video which shows what kind of experiences you can have in VR with a hyper realistic Wiimote Controller playing shooting games. The industry has yet to figure out the best input devices for playing in VR, well this is my 2 cents :p

Awesome! Just don't leave the house with that thing, and maybe close the shades too. Ha!!!

Yeh I'm totally paranoid about it, it's not leaving the house and it's deff not coming along to any public demos ;p

At some point I'll upload the GlovePie script, hopefully someone with more brilliance than myself will be able to tweak it further..

Hi,

I luckily found a Blaze Scorpion Vii in a second hand shop for $15.

These Wiimote Gun controllers are fantastic for games like House of the Dead and Resident Evil.

However they are hard to come by, and are expensive.

I like your wiimotionplus adaptation.

I suspect you are using the Lednerg airmouse mod on Glovepie.

Another thing too.

Some enterprising person could wire a mini-remote into a gun shell such as a Playstation GunCon and have a fully functioning Wiimote Gun. The regular wiimote is too wide to fit gun shells, but the smaller mini boards are the right size.

Also, I would fix the A-B and 1-2 buttons as they should be on the same side of the pistol.

Thanks for posting the video.

Carl Kenner needs to upgrade GlovePie instead of buggerising around with Oculus Rift stuff. ;)

Yup, I'm using that for the movement and mashed it together with WiiMot3's black ops script to handle everything else..

When I get some time I'll probably revisit this script to see if I can tweak it any further... (or if anyone else fancies a go)
I have already had to open up the motionplus to remove the clips which the P99 hasn't got the holes to clip into place.
I'm musing about a way to somehow either integrate the motionplus board on the outside of the controller somewhere...

Ideally it might be possible to use some sort of other tracking such as found in this video; maybe find a way of integrating into the cavity of the wiimote gun

No idea how he's tracking the gun!

Yeh can't find a Scorpion Vii anywhere :( But don't push Carl too much, likely his next update will be to ban all HMD's from using GlovePie coz they can be used for military use like he blocked everything of Vuzix...! (means I can't use my HMD)

@metronome

Just a suggestion with your GlovePie script.

It is usually customary to include more detailed credits in the header of the program.

If I saw the program on its own, I would have no idea it was a 'mashup' of other scripts, and I would not know where they were located or what was originally written.

This is not a criticism, as you have made a significant contribution too.

Perhaps you can post this script back to the GlovePie forum where it may get a more receptive audience.

Thanks.

Yeh I haven't had a chance to put the accreditation back in from both scripts, I want to spend some time with it. This is really only my own personal copy which is why I haven't uploaded it anywhere else... (and mentioned where it came from) as it was 2am when I finished messing around with it. But I will post it back on GlovePie when I'm happy with it :)

I did not see the video, no access to the server... But as far as wiimote shells go, I have found this to me the most ergonomical http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_US/produ ... ger-gun-nw
