I've tried many times to add depth to stairs but I failed every time. I'm curious to see if others are able to add depth to stairs correctly. I'm posting a 2D picture so that others can give a try at adding depth to stairs. If you get it right (it does not need to be perfect), share your picture and technique with us in this thread.
I think we might need some better tools to get the depth as we want to but I don't know what kind exactly.

what about slicing the picture, ie, cut out each step and do your magic and then export and merge altogether again? may take allot of trys but should work

done! unfortunately the current state of the program makes all of the results wavy/underwaterish when straight lines are involved
also a weird diagonal line appeared while I was adding depth.

Try again. The L/R was reversed (as far as I can tell), and the separation was much too high - couldn't form a 3D image.
Getting there!
Regards, Neil

Here's my attempt http://www.mtbs3d.com/gallery/displayim ... ?pos=-2071The second step form the top is unforunately placed badly on the mesh, so it's hard to work with. h-bar Nice job yuri! But that's clearly not Photoforms

Yeah. I think Yuri's bum was kicked in quite a bit with this picture. Yuri! Are you going to take this sitting down?!? Regards, Neil

nope L/R was not reversed. you seem to have problems viewing images with high separation. here is my final attempt:

Much better!
I had to play with the convergence in sView, but it does look much better.
Let's see what the others think!

I liked them all, I had about .5 seconds problem with Yuri's 2nd one, but once I looked at the door I could see the stairs just fine.
The 3rd one is good, but the depth is not stunning like the 2nd attempt.
Cool.

From best to worst : Yuri 2nd and 3rd were the best but they are too perfect to be from photoform. Except that there seems to be a mistake in steps 1, 3 and 4 (starting to count from the bottom) on the left. There's an extremely sharp change of depth. h-bar attempt was very good. Much better than my own tries. Then Yuri first try was not very well done but it was as good or even better than my own tries. Good job and thank you for giving it a try. h-bar, did you use the current beta or did you use a newer version that you are working on (with more features and advanced brushes). Just curious as I think yours came out really well done for the current tools.
