hi all,

If you're new to Tridef, here's how to share profiles for 3d settings. Run a game and set the 3d settings to how you like them, save settings and follow the description below. Be advised that the driver often saves the current settings when you exit the OSD whether you want them saved or not.

Basically just right-click a game in the Tridef Ignition window and you can figure out importing/exporting/changing profiles from there. For people needing more detail, read on.

Exporting a profile:
Start your Tridef Ignition window and right-click a game there. Select "export profile" from the pop-up menu and browse to a place to save the TriDefGame file format. The filename should have your windows username embedded but you can change that of course. I recommend you don't however because then users can have multiple profiles for the same game and know who each profile came from. Just get that file to whomever you want usually via an attachment to a post on a forum like this. There are lots of profiles you can get from the Tridef forums too. http://www.ddd.com/forum/

Importing a profile:
right-click a game in the Tridef Ignition window and select Properties, then select Import and browse to the TriDefGame file you've gotten from somewhere and select it.

Changing profiles:
You're all smart enough to figure this out but anyway, if you want to use a different profile, just get to the "Properties" pop-up window like above and just use the drop-down list under "game profile" and choose whichever you want to try. The name doesn't really have to match the game either so you can see how settings from one game work in another game. Be advised however that if you change and save the settings in that game, it will be changed in that profile for both games if they're both currently set to use the same profile.

An alternate method of importing/exporting:

An alternate method of importing/exporting is just to deal with the TriDefGame files directly in the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\DDD\TriDefGames
You can just copy the files out/in but you still might need to choose which profile a game uses if you have multiple profiles per game.

Currently there is no way to change profiles during a game. I have requested the ability to do that since it would help with Steam games. See the "Dealing with Steam and Tridef Ignition 2.4.6" topic for more details.

Happy profiling,

PS: just figured something out... "scene depth" and "percent in front" DO work with profiles but if you try to use multiple profiles for the same game, then "scene depth" and "percent in front" get shared between the two profiles. It's odd but if you change one, then that change shows up when you use the other. Maybe I'll report this to Tridef for fixing but it shouldn't effect most people.
