Honestly, there are so few games that actually use OpenGL (compared to DirectX) I can see why Nvidia is not bending over backwards to provide support. Though the old drivers did support OpenGL, so maybe it would not be too hard to restore support. Plus, there are so few GL games out there so testing/QA would be pretty easy.
But to get to your question, I am not sure what Nvidia would want in order to do this. I know people have brought it up many times on the Nvidia forums and Nvidia does not see it as a priority (though they didn't rule it out either).

I guess they just don't want to kill their pro market (which may be quite lucrative) since their 3D Vision Pro kit is based on OpenGL. I wouldn't hold my breath for the return of OpenGL support in their consumer driver. From : http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dvision-pro-faq.htmlQuote: I'm an app developer and want to support 3D Vision/3D Vision Pro, what do I need to do? The easiest way to support 3D Vision [Pro], and in fact all Quadro stereoscopic 3D support, is to modify your application to support Quad Buffered OpenGL (aka OpenGL stereo). There are many guides and sample code available on the internet on how to do this. If your application is DirectX, contact NVIDIA Developer Relations.

NVidia has no incentive to support OpenGL for the general public, like Fredz said. However, something to keep in mind is the IZ3D drivers that may become Open Source at the end of this month. They are trying to get donations for that to happen. I think they will probably release it even if their goals aren't met. If it does happen there will be an awesome amount of work done on the drivers and I look forward to NVidia finally having some competition in that area. Just something to keep in mind...

John Carmack said something about this on twitter, not sure if the app signing solution was just for id's internal use? http://twitter.com/ID_AA_Carmack/status ... 2092428289

I hope they use it. I had a feeling they were only going to support consolized 3D. ID's engine is great but unfortunately 3d vision is not opengl friendly. Doom 3 was an awesome experience and one of my favorite non 3d games is chronicles of riddick. I think ID's engine is going to be very popular soon from all the new features/ Occulus.

Getting OpenGL support? That would be nice but there are a lot of things on my ToDo list for NVIDIA that are a lot higher up and a lot easier to do. Like actually letting us pick the screenshot hotkey, screenshot format, and where the screenshots are saved. We have to hack into the registry to do the first two and we can't do the last at all! All together those would take maybe a day to do and test plus another day to translate to all the languages.
Or maybe giving us our forums back after a month and a half.....
P.S. OK, you could probably redirect the screenshots with some sort of hard link in your file system but that's getting really extreme.
