Sorry, long post here. I was looking into playing Zelda: Ocarina of Time (or actually, the Master Quest version since it's harder, swapped items/dungeons/puzzles and I never finished played it) with my 3D setup and 3D Vision glasses as I have no plans of buying a 3DS nintendo system.

Spent all of last night trying to get satisfying results, but not yet.

Options are:

* Emulating N64 with Project 64 or 1964 emulator
* Emulating Gamecube/Wii with Dolphin emulator (3D vision option in settings) and play the emulated version available on these systems.

Preferably I'd rather take the N64 route though since that's the native system the game was designed for, it should also provide better performance. (dualcore system here)
Also better quality when using N64 emu over gc/wii, some video plugins support custom hires-textures for n64:

Unfortunately, I've not had much luck emulating this game with n64 in 3D. The ONLY video plugin I found which rendered 3D was "Mudlord's Rice Video Build 6.2.0" and it wasn't very good, it had a number of problems such as:

* ground flickering/disappearing
* no hud at all except "active" heart (no map, no rupees, no hearts, no magic, no items showing)
* no sky at some places
* no text or textboxes showing at all (I ran into the big owl and had troubles progressing since he kept asking if I wanted to hear his story again and the default answer is "yes" here)
* other issues

Here's a Stereo screenshot of that plugin working in 3D.
Project64001.pns

It looks good here, but it's unplayable still because of the problems mentioned above (no textboxes being the real killer)

Other plugins work pretty much perfectly, such as some dx9 plugins available and the glasses activate when using them but it's 2D (game is simply only rendered once)

Dolphin works good in 3D, but it's a little bit slow for me on my machine though almost fullspeed in zelda but still not quite. And the overall quality is much worse since it can't replace the lores textures with the hires ones which the 1964 and project 64 emulators support through plugins.

I've heard IZ3D might have better support for emulating n64, unfortunately I'm unable to test it since I already did trial the driver back when I had e-dimensional shutter glasses. If I can get confirmation that it works good in 3D with pj64 or 1964 AND hires_texture support is there then I will without a doubt purchase a license soon.

If someone here has IZ3D with 3D Vision and wants to test it for me (or better yet, has a solution for nvidia) with hires textures here is a guide:

Personally I had issues with pj64 crashing when hires textures was enabled in the dx9 plugin so you may want to try 1964 with the "community" plugin instead, all is included here:

No roms or other illegal files included, obviously.

Any help or discussion on the subject is welcome, thanks.

I used to play Zelda64 with legacy Nvidia drivers and UltraHLE. Worked perfectly. No idea what the modern support is like.

Also, why you don't like Nintendo 3DS? It really is the best system of all time!

Oh it's not that I don't like it, I like everything about the console (except when they combine gyro with 3D and already poor viewing angle.. not sure how that works) I just don't see any amazing games for it right now.

I also can't afford to put the money down on it right now after I just recently purchased this 120 Hz monitor and nvidia glasses as well as GTX 460 just a few months ago.
I'll probably get it eventually, when more games I'm interested in becomes available (animal crossing and paper mario being the top candidates, but also mario kart and the new mario game)

I'm not convinced it's the best (portable) system of all time, but it sure has the potential to be. More games need to come out, nothing really great out yet except Zelda which is right around the corner..
