Hi Guys!

I have a problem. I'm going to be speaking at a conference next week, and it's going to be a "paperless" conference. They require that all attendees have an iPhone or iTouch.

I don't like the idea of buying a PDA I don't need, so I would prefer to get an iPhone. Unfortunately, I have a predicament. I rarely use my cell phone in Canada, so it would be very wasteful to buy into a plan. The only time I do use a cell is when I travel to the US, which still doesn't justify a monthly plan.

If I had an unlocked iPhone, I could theoretically bind it with a SIM card, and use it where I need it on a pay per use basis.

Is there such a thing as a legal place to buy unlocked iPhones in Canada or the US?

Does that mean you have to get an Iphone for that conference? Is tha an Apple conference?

Canada: The iPhone should not be tied to a provider.

Just get the iPod Touch then if you don't want a contract.

But I want an iPhone!

I'm a Blackberry guy [without one yet for a few months].

I think you can just use Skype on your Iphone and talk over the internet..
