Most compatible drivers/hardware config?

Post by chilledsanity »

Hey, I know this has been discussed a lot here already, but I got kind of lost looking at all the different threads as to which drivers are the best to get. The main thing I did pick up is to stay the hell away from the 8000 series until Nvidia can clean up its drivers.

I'm planning to buy a new videocard soon with the sole purpose of stereoscopic gaming. I've been on ATI cards for the past few years, but I was one of the early adopters of the revelator glasses back with my TNT2 and absolutely loved it when it worked. Eventually the ghosting got to me too much and I gave up on it, but since affordable HMD's have started coming out, I really want to go back to real 3D. Right now I'm leaning towards getting a GeForce 7950 and I thought I'd ask what the most functional drivers are for stereoscopic vision. I really want to avoid as many problems as I've been reading about of stereo artifacts and systems crashing. Anyone care to say what their favorite driver release is?

Well I've gotten the 7950, but I'm afraid it looks like the 91.31's are too old, it won't even detect the card using those drivers. Right now I'm just running the 91.47 drivers that came with the CD. I noticed there are 91.47 beta stereo drivers on Guru3d.com. Will these be pretty much the same or am I asking for trouble going higher than 91.31? Again, my main concern is comaptibility here, and this is still a 7000 series card on XP.

Well , I got a 7950GT and I use 94.24 Beta stereo and 94.24 forcewhere
they work ok for me but there are still the problem with FPS dropping when using the lasersight in many games. Other then that I havent noticed anything else.
Haven`t tryed the 162.15/162.18 yet,
All files you can find in the download section here
