Nice try. It doesn't scream out at me like the one we are using now.

Try different concepts. Maybe take what we have and soup it up - make it more interesting.

Also, the text is VERY important.

Hi Sharky,

You can download the logo in photoshop format in our downloads section. Click on MTBS File Exchange at the top to get to it.

By the way, if you haven't already, you should all be uploading public domain and shareware materials so I can build our file library - it's there for your benefit.

I'll PM my email to you.

Hi Sharky,

It's getting better.

First, give the lettering some color. It's too pale. Also, the font needs to be more interesting.

I like the last one the best too - I don't want our logo to include a single solution because MTBS is non-proprietary.

Instead of the soldier, can you do something with the eyes? Make it a virtual face reacting to what he is seeing?

Or, even better, have someones hands hanging on to the "Meant to be Seen" letters from behind, and have his face peer over looking excited.

Remember, a logo isn't supposed to be overly detailed because it can be printed at all kinds of sizes.

One more thing - be aware of the vertical space. Compare the vertical space of the new logo to the old logo - very important.

to model a face in 3d is difficult, nearly impossible with the tecnical programs i use.

what do you mean with vertical space? the space between one liine and the next?

and wich part would you like with more colors? what about the steel effect on the meant to be seen text?

we could try one thing: send me a photo of you with the face expression you want, i could use that to make some tests.

Hi Sharky,

I think a face that complex (and hideous) would not make for a good logo! :o

If you look at the logo at the top left of the site, it can be resized all sorts of ways. However, the logo with the soldier at the top can't be resized. We need something that would fit in a banner ad or on a video game box.

Let's simply this a bit. Go with your text style, but cut down the space between the lines. I like the steel look, but it should be more colorful - gold maybe? The rest of the words should have a 3D font to them - everything should have some depth.

Stick with the eyes for now. Can you make spheres? Maybe spheres made of polygons? Be creative!

Hi Sharky,

I like what you are doing here.

Try reducing the image to the size of our current logo - that's where the problems begin.

Try this:

1. Increase the height of the Meant to be Seen edges - don't make them too narrow because it quickly becomes hard to read.

2. "Certification & Advocacy For TRUE 3D Gaming" should be bigger. When the logo is smaller, the letters should still be readable.

Getting there...

ok il do those changes now. the size is because normally professionals make a big image and reduce it when they need it. that keeps the high quality and lets you print also in big scale. if you take for example the logo in the project on the download section and print it for a big advertising board you are going to see all the pixels. so normally the images are made all big and then scaled down when they are used. same as above. the project image was MUCH bigger.. :)

so. ill be back in some mins with the new version

I know why the image is larger. What I'm saying is if you reduce it - view it in a window and reduce the window size for example - it quickly becomes unreadable. We need something that will look good small and large.

See how the new changes work.

here is the new one. i think the red behind the "certification ecccc...." is to dark.. if it is brighter it becomes much more readable.

MEANT TO BE SEEN is not that readable now because of all the changes. dont worry about that now. once we know how we want the logo i am going to create it again from zero and then it will be fully readable[/img]

Hi Sharky,

Ok:

1. The blue on mtbs3d.com is too bright. It should be a dark blue like what we currently have. The yellow should be strong too.

2. The writing is too thick for Certification and Advocacy. Thin it out a bit, and it should look better.

3. The "3D" in blue.... Can you lower it relative to the other text, and give it a 3D tail? Give the letters a thick Z axis and make it look like it is flying out.

here is the result of half an hour of 3d modelling, 2 hours of tests and rendering. this one is COMPLETELY in 3d. more then this is impossible.

using a 3d model we can create WITHOUT PROBLEMS a stereoscopic logo, and movies of teh logo

Now we are talking!

Thanks for the hard work - I really appreciate that.

1. Can you make "Meant to be Seen" gold instead of yellow? Or some kind of metallic color?

2. I really want the blue around "mtbs3D.com" to be dark blue with yellow for the writing - like what we have now.

3. Can we give the eyes some eyebrows? Go with the expression we have now, but in 3D.

----

Another idea worth trying. Can you take the logo we have now, and use your new elements to modernize it? For example, stick with the writing style but use your new 3D method (keep the original colors). Use the new eyes and eyebrows instead of the old ones (keep the original colors).

From a branding point of view, it will look as though we took a concept, and modernized it.

So far, this logo is by far my favorite from what I have seen so far.

the problem is that things cant be bent inside the program. so the "meant to be seen" has to stay straight like mine. eyebrowse? absolutly no problem! colors are also no probelm.

what i dint understand is if you like more mine or your eyes. so do you want yours in 3d, or mine with your eyebrows?

Keep your eyes, and create eyebrowes with my shape (curving down).

Yes, update the colors.

I'm surprised you can't curve the letters. Which program are you using?

ok i create that right now.

i use Inventor 12. it is a program for tecnical Engineering. the one i use at work. you cant bend letters because in a normal tecnical situation you won't need that. but you can bend without problems a large peace of steel. :)

by the way:
a little preview of what can be done if we stick with the Inventor solution:

http://www.mad-sharky.com/mtbs/mtbs.wmv quality is not that good because it is only a test.. it can be much better..

Let's get the elements together. If our members don't have the rendering software, I may have access to an ad agency - maybe they can get the rest rendered the way we want it.

why rendering software? i do the rendering on my computer and put the the movie online...or the stereoscopic image... once the image is online it can be modified with photoshop.. the rendering thing is just an additional thing we have. it is not that trough this we loose other things...

by the way here is teh new version:

SWEET! It's looking MUCH better!

1. It needs a background. Can you give it a horizontal egg shaped background? It could be flat, but it definitely needs a background.

2. Make "Meant to be Seen" a bit bigger.

Close!

The background is interfering with the readability of the text. Try brightening the red and the gold in the text, and that should clean it up.

ALSO! Make sure it is mtbs3D.com - not mtbs3d.com (capitalize the D).

I'm really starting to like this.

I just had an idea. The metallic background you are using - can you give it a depth, like a soup bowl? That way when the image rotates, it will have depth.

Hi Sharky!

So close!!! :o

Ok:

1. The red is too dark. Make it bright, bright, bright. If you look at the smaller version, the red writing is harder to read because it is dark.

2. Try the bowl effect.

3. Make "Meant to be Seen" just a shade darker so it looks different from mtbs3D.com. Keep it bright, though. See how readable it is, now? Much better.

I think this logo is looking better and better!

yes it can.. but in which direction? un down, towards themonitor. i think that the best, and fastest way to get a final result is that you save the last image (big one) i posted, edit it in photosho and set for ONE red letter the color you want (i nead at least a part of the new color and one of the old color so dont color them all but at least one i need) and paint with the mouse a bowl in the position you wnat it. that is the fastes solution because do those things in 3d is a lot of work. i worked 5 hours to get the last version of this logo..

Ok - let me get the colors right in Photoshop. The bowl should be inward, now outward.

If you want to be fancy, we could make it look like a digital mouth (like WOW!) - but that might be too much for a logo.

Here are some color ideas.

I think it's the background that is getting in the way. We should make it fainter or brighter so it doesn't interfere with the lettering as much.
