NEC Superwidescreen Curved display ..... Now your talking.

Post by budda »

Hi,

Just off the press from Wired - http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/06/ ... n-display/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The 43-inch ultrascreen desktop display, called NEC CRV43 , has a 10,000: 1 contrast ratio and a 2880 x 900 double WXGA native resolution.

.... The display claims super-fast response time of 0.02 milliseconds.
Fantastic news for stereovision gamers.

You can now ditch your LCD panels and Matrox combo-box-2go for this beauty.

Woo Hoo. :woot

XXX*******************************************************XXX

EDIT:

There may be a problem getting stereo to operate on this model ... :!:

Here is further technical information from NEC about the CRV43 display - http://www.necdisplay.com/NewTechnologi ... e_0409.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It comes with a single DVI-D and HDMI 1.3 Video input. There is no mention of DVI-I (with RGB analog) connections.

What are they thinking at NEC. :roll:

This could be a disappointing limitation for such an expensive technical marvel.

For instance, my 21" Mitsubishi-NEC 2070SB CRT monitor will happily display 2880x900x32Bit@100Hz in full. It uses only 95 kHz of its 140 kHz maximum horizontal scanning frequency. And it could potentially refresh at 140Hz.

The old analog technology is still way ahead of the new digital video standards as far as S3D is concerned.

This situation is so ridiculous.

:cry:

Looks cool for sure, but for $8,000 I'd opt for a dual projection rig.

What technology does it use? The last time I saw a wide display like that, it used DLP projection and it had to use more than one DLP chip and you could see vertical bars where the picture from two chips intersected.
